Achieving celebrity status often comes with a price. Apart from hazardous stalkers and social media trolls, stars constantly have to deal with the paparazzi. They are known to follow them everywhere, sometimes looking to provoke a reaction by going as far as to yell things at them. While celebs have learned to remain calm in such situations, there are times they just can't take it anymore. Let's look at 10 such instances when stars lost their cool lost their cool after the paps went too far.
1. Kanye West
Over the years, Kanye West has had multiple run-ins with the paparazzi. Most recently, in January, a female TMZ reporter took advantage of him and asked if his wife Bianca Censori had "free will." In 2013, a photographer filed a lawsuit against the celebrity after the duo got into an altercation at LAX. He alleged that the rapper had hurt his right hip during the skirmish.
2. Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber, then 19, ended up overstimulated by a photographer's aggressive remarks in 2013. In a video from the incident, the paparazzo can be heard screaming profanities at the young pop star after claiming that he was manhandled when Bieber made a frenzied dash for the SUV, as per E! News. Subsequently, Bieber rushed out of the car and yelled, "I’ll f****** beat the f*** out of you!" and had to be restrained by his security team.
3. Britney Spears
Days after shaving her head in 2007, Britney Spears attacked a paparazzo with an umbrella. On the night, she and her cousin were driving through a Mobil gas station in Tarzana when they were persistently trailed by paparazzi. After they refused to leave them alone, Spears jumped out of the passenger seat of their silver Mercedes and hit photographer Daniel Ramos' Ford Explorer with an umbrella.
4. Lamar Odom
Lamar Odom lost it on two paparazzi in Hollywood, wrecking a car and a camera before fleeing the scene. The violent altercation from 2013 was caught on camera by TMZ, showing Odom getting into the back of one of their cars and throwing the man's equipment into the middle of a busy street. He then crossed the street and smashed another photographer's car with a metal bar before gathering all the equipment off the street and placing it in his trunk.
5. Chris Martin
Another celebrity one would expect to maintain composure at all times is Chris Martin. However, he lost it in 2008 when a paparazzo followed his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, as she left a New York hospital. He threw the photographer to the ground and attempted to snatch his camera.
6. Miley Cyrus
Though Cyrus has resisted getting into an altercation with the paparazzi on a few occasions, she was definitely prepared for a confrontation when one of them apparently touched her mother in 2011. The singer shoved the photographer's lens out of the way and scolded him when he attempted to take a picture of her and her mother getting in the car.
7. Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin welcomed their first child together in 2013, not long after the actor got into a fight with a photographer in New York. The '30 Rock' star apparently pinned the paparazzo to a car's bonnet as he was taking pictures of the couple outside a West Village cafe, according to NBC News.
8. Lily Allen
The 'Smile' singer's car was hit by a persistent photographer in 2009, as per The Express. Lily Allen stepped out of the vehicle, threw a water bottle at him, and booted him repeatedly while other photographers filmed the entire incident.
9. Hugh Grant
Although Hugh Grant portrayed a courteous yet naive English gentleman in several of his early movies, the British actor reportedly lost his cool over a photographer called Ian Whittaker, who was apparently near his London residence to take pictures of his former partner Liz Hurley. The paparazzo was left "bruised, battered and covered in baked beans" when Grant flung a "family-sized tub" of the baked beans at him and kneed him in the crotch, reported The Guardian. Grant was arrested for the 2007 incident.
10. Russell Brand
Russell lost his temper on paparazzi while out on a date with Katy Perry. He became so enraged that he stepped out of the car and began pushing one of the photographers after they trailed the pair to their car.
