10 worst-dressed celebs at 2024 CMA Awards: From Kelsea Ballerini's glitter fail to Ashley McBryde's gown
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Countless country music icons descended upon the red carpet in Nashville on Wednesday, November 20, for the 58th Annual Country Music Association Awards. The celebrities gathered at downtown Nashville's Music City Center, decked out in extravagant heartland fashion. Although the majority of participants exhibited a winning sense of style, some attendees fell somewhat short.
Even though country music is known for mending broken hearts, the CMAs were packed with celebrities wearing the worst outfits. This year's worst-dressed list surprised viewers - from ridiculously overdone cowboy hats to poor color selections and a confusing Big Bird-esque trend.
Take a look at 10 of the worst-dressed celebrities at the 2024 CMA Awards.
1. Ashley McBryde
Everyone loves wearing formal attire with jewel tones and all love purple gowns for the fall. However, Ashley McBryde's plum-colored appearance at the 2024 CMA Awards red carpet failed to make the mark. McBryde's dress evoked strong feelings of the Renaissance Faire, perhaps because of the dramatic, floor-skimming cape and the form-fitting bodice. As a result, McBryde ended up on the list of the worst-dressed celebs due to this costume choice.
2. Caroline Bryan
The 2024 CMA Awards co-host Luke Bryan's wife, Caroline Bryan, showed up on the 58th CMA red carpet in a basic blue gown with floral prints on it. However, Bryan's outfit seemed a little flat despite all its glitz and glamour. Bryan's straight-cut slip failed to make an impression as well, despite the vintage feel of her gown's floral embellishments which appeared to be bit hasty.
3. Billy Bob Thornton
Billy Bob Thornton's outfit had to be one of the oddest of all the bizarre looks on the CMA Awards red carpet. The actor appeared somewhat unkempt, wearing an asymmetrical outfit that harked back to the less polished days of his 'Bad Santa' persona, per Daily Mail. The vibrantly colored open button-down was layered between a black jacket and T-shirt, which gave the outfit a sloppy vibe. Adding layers of jewelry and his tilted hat made the entire ensemble appear disorganized.
4. Teddy Swims
Teddy Swims was an attraction to behold on Wednesday, fresh off his tartan ensemble from the MTV EMAs in Manchester in earlier November. Swims was wrapped in an extravagant black poncho with a glistening gold trim this time, one that was so laden that he seemed to be swallowed by it. Swims' gleaming black leather pants only added to the garishness of the outfit but his black, fringed cowboy cap did give some hope.
5. Kimberly Schlapman
'Little Big Town' crooner Kimberly Schlapman evoked the debauched decade of the 1980s by wearing a monochromatic dress with a huge black bow over the bust. Although her strapless white gown fit her like a glove, Schlapman probably should have decided before going with the 3-D black flecks scattered all over the dress or the huge black bow stuck onto her bustline.
6. Julie Williams
Julie Williams does not have to look like a disco ball for her fans to dance to her music. The star became overwhelmed and distracted by her dazzling silver dress with long, billowing sleeves on CMA awards the red carpet. However, it was her accessorizing choices that caused the worst offense including a pair of platform sandals and a bolo tie.
7. Brittney Boston
Brittney Boston chose to walk the red carpet in a vibrant pink suit, which is usually a wise decision. Unfortunately, this specific outfit at the CMA proved ineffective. The suit appeared a little loose, the pink color did not sit right, and those black, closed-toe shoes did not match as well. Above all, Boston appeared to have been doused in Pepto Bismol due to the tutus on the arms of her suit.
8. Kelsea Ballerini
A lot of glitter and glamor usually makes fans fall in love, but Kelsea Ballerini's incredibly glittery 2024 CMA Awards ensemble fell way short. The droopy fit of the top and bottom of the star made viewers pause, yet it certainly had a lot of sparkle. The country singer's situation might have been different if Ballerini's disco ball-inspired gown had been tailored with a bit more care.
9. Niki Moon
Even though the CMAs are not exactly associated with high fashion, fans always value when a celebrity goes above and beyond. However, Niki Moon went a bit too far in the direction of casualness by leaving it open to show off his undershirt in addition to wearing a Hawaiian shirt with short sleeves.
10. Ian Munsick
The desire to represent country music style on the biggest night is not surprising but Ian Munsick went a little too far away with this whimsy. Munsick packed his outfit with details but none of them came together. The denim shirt and jeans conflicted because of their different appearance. The leather vest and belt seemed to go with two different ensembles, and the hat and jewelry gave the impression that Munsick was trying too hard to make an impression.
