22-year-old man fatally hit by two drivers while crossing Bronx street

THE BRONX, NEW YORK: In a devastating incident, a 22-year-old man died after he was fatally struck by two drivers while crossing a street in Bronx, New York, in the early hours of Sunday, February 4.

The first impact occurred when a southbound four-door sedan on White Plains Road near Archer St in Parkchester struck him around 4 am.

The initial impact propelled the pedestrian into the northbound lanes, where an SUV driver subsequently struck him. Despite being rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, the 22-year-old died, as per Daily News.

As of now, the victim and the drivers remain unnamed. No charges have yet been filed against the drivers, who remained at the scene after the collision, as the incident remains under investigation.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) recently issued a stern message emphasizing zero tolerance for reckless driving.

This announcement follows after a driver in New York City collided with a parked fuel truck, resulting in the tragic deaths of two passengers, 15-year-old Sabrina Villagomez and 21-year-old Giovante Roberson.

Another 17-year-old female passenger, who was riding in the back seat, was hospitalized in critical condition.

Enrique Lopez, who was behind the wheel, now faces charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault, criminal possession of stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief.

The fatal collision occurred when the 23-year-old, driving a white Chrysler 300, lost control and collided with the parked oil tanker truck at the corner of Bryant and Viele avenues around 3.20 am on January 21.

Prior to the crash, Lopez had reportedly attempted stunts, neglecting the road's slight slump. The owner of the truck, identified as Chip, explained, "There was salt on the road, and there’s a dip, so when he hit that, he started losing control."



 

Wreck footage revealed the driver swerving out of control just before colliding with the parked vehicle. 

Images of the aftermath depicted extensive damage to both vehicles, emphasizing the reckless nature of the incident. Following the crash, Lopez was hospitalized and listed in stable condition.
