6 celebs Barbra Streisand offended with her rude remarks: From Oprah Winfrey to Melissa McCarthy
6 celebs who were at receiving end of Barbra Streisand’s rude remarks
Barbra Streisand openly questioned Melissa McCarthy on her weight loss on Monday, April 29, with a rude remark, leaving admirers stunned. The 82-year-old 'Broadway' veteran commented on a now-deleted photo of the 53-year-old comedian with her pal Adam Shankman, posing the question, "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?" per Daily Mail. However, this isn't the only instance and Barbra has a history of unintentionally offending people.
1. Melissa McCarthy
On April 29, Melissa posted a picture of herself with director Adam Shankman at the Center Theatre Group's CTG The Gala event. Barbra asked her in the comment section, "Give him (Shankman) my regards did you take Ozempic?" Barbra eventually deleted her comment after several users criticized the EGOT-winning artist for the inappropriate question. Reacting to Barbra's "out of line" question on Ozempic usage, Melissa told a photographer from TMZ, "I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her."
2. Oprah Winfrey
When Barbra appeared on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' in 2003, she was sporting a white turtleneck and had her white dog Sammie with her. Oprah called Barbara out for matching her attire and dog to her white microphone. "I want to just say this... I own this studio, I've been here I don't know how many years. I've never seen a white mic," she remarked. "It's actually off-white, to match my off-white sweater. I like simplicity, and monochromatic frames," Barbra retorted.
3. Bradley Cooper
Barbra was understandably disappointed with the outcome when Bradley's 2018 remake of her 1976 film 'A Star Is Born' was released. Barbra admitted that she had initially agreed before learning of Bradley's participation. Barbra stated at the time: "At first, when I heard it was going to be done again, it was supposed to be Will Smith and Beyonce, and I thought, that's interesting. So, I was surprised when I saw how alike it was to the version that I did in 1976. I don't care so much about success as I do originality."
4. Donald Trump
Barbra remarked in 2018 that she was "gaining weight" due to Donald Trump because she turned to comfort food to cope with the political climate at the time. She continued to write for Australia's Stellar magazine, stating that the "lying" President was causing her to feel "kind of depressed" after consuming chocolate and ice cream. "I tell you, when the news gets really bad, like it did the other night listening to (the President) I had to have two coffee ice-cream cones... I had to have two. I was thinking about three," Barbra seethed at the time.
5. Larry Kramer
Barbra and Larry were entangled in a drama for years around the TV version of his play, 'The Normal Heart.' Larry expressed his dissatisfaction to Barbra in a leaked 2012 email, telling her that she "did not have quite the same burning passion to make it as you always claim". However, Barbra stood up for herself, saying, "In the press, Larry kept speaking out against me. But I think it's unfair to keep blaming me for the movie not getting made."
6. Michael Jackson's accusers Wade Robson and James Safechuck
Barbra, who knew Michael Jackson in his heyday, defended the pop star in a 2019 The Times of London interview against statements made by Wade Robson and James Safechuck in the two-part HBO documentary 'Leaving Neverland.' Barbra said of MJ to The Times, "His sexual needs were his sexual needs, coming from whatever childhood he has or whatever DNA he has. You can say ‘molested,’ but those children, as you heard say [the grown-up Robson and Safechuck], they were thrilled to be there." Barbra even went so far as to claim that Jackson's alleged abuse did not "kill them".
