8 worst-dressed celebrities on 2024 Paris Olympics: From Tyla to Pharrell Williams
8 celebrities who missed the mark on the Paris Olympics red carpet
The Paris Olympics 2024 has officially started on Friday, July 26. However, the curtain-raisers for the sports event started even before as several celebrities flocked to the fashion capital for Thursday's Prelude to the Olympics event, and Friday's Opening Ceremony. As the stars descended on Paris to walk on the red carpet for the events, there were a few hits and misses. While most of the celebrities ticked the right boxes with their fashion choices, a few of them raised the eyebrows of the fashion police. Here is a list of stars who failed to make an impression with their sartorial choices over the two star-studded events.
1. Pharrell Williams
Pharrell Williams tried several looks over the course of the two days. While some of them were lauded for their uniqueness, his look for the Prelude To The Olympics did not sit well with critics. Understandably, as too many things are going on with his outfit. Instead of focusing on a single statement piece, the 51-year-old singer experimented with many pieces - not with a flattering output meanwhile. The 'N.E.R.D' singer paired distressed flared-legged jeans with a classic grey suit blazer over an orange shirt. His choice of footwear was a pair of chunky white sneakers with orange bands. Apart from sporting a beige cap and sunglasses, he carried a Louis Vuitton Speedy to complete his look.
2. Elizabeth Banks
Elizabeth had it right till the unstructured blue knot of her dress! The 'Hunger Games' star opted for a black minidress with a plunging neckline paired with translucent black stockings, giving her outfit an edge. However, it was the electric blue sash knotted at the bottom of her dress that took away the attention from all the right points of her looks. She opted for a pair of black heels to match her stockings.
3. Maria Taylor
Maria Taylor's dress was more suited for a day out in a swamp than on the Prelude to the Olympics red carpet, as reported by Nicki Swift. The broadcaster's otherwise impeccable dressing sense was slightly missing on Thursday, as she opted for a sparkly snakeskin printed dress with a thigh-high slit. Moreover, she paired her dress with thigh-high boots to complete her look. The only saving grace of her outfit was the fine silver jewelry that looked exquisite on her.
4. Ashlyn Harris and Sophia Bush
Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris coordinated in metallic ensembles as they walked the red carpet for the Prelude to the Olympics event. While they did a commendable job in paying subtle tributes to the medals of the game, their Christiano Siriano outfits didn't please many. While Harris's pinstriped crop suit lacked the oomph, Bush's skirt resembled a jack-o'-lantern. The 'One Tree Hill' actress opted for a copper-colored dress with a corset-style top and balloon skirt that was reminiscent of Elizabethan gowns.
5. Tyla
Tyla wore a black velvet tracksuit with Louis Vuitton’s Damier pattern throughout along with an unzipped jacket. However, it was her tiny bralette top that exposed a little too much. Nevertheless, the gold chains managed to add glamour and make her look unique.
6. Pierce Abernathy
The cropped bottomwear trend seemed to be quite popular at the curtain raiser events for the Olympics with many abiding by it. American social media person Pierce Abernathy was one of them as he paired white shorts with a crisp white linen shirt. Moreover, he added a navy blue blazer, a baseball cap, and a pair of leather loafers as his choice of footwear to finish the ensemble. Talk about mix and match gone wrong!
6. Rebecca Adlington
Former Olympian Rebecca Adlington opted for comfort dressing when she wore an orange and white printed co-ord set for the red carpet ahead of the opening ceremony. However, instead of looking like a dress for a high fashion event, it had the vibe of a spring garden picnic.
7. Kelly Phoenix
What is exactly happening with the waist of Kelly Phoenix's emerald green jumpsuit? The American musician's dress went wrong on several fronts. While the top half resembled a dressing gown, the loosely tied belt hanging from his waist seemed to serve no purpose. Moreover, creases were visible on the silk fabric of the trousers as well making it an overall unimpressive fashion statement.
