Walker Hayes candidly shares love story with wife of 20 years on 'Today with Hoda & Jenna'

American country singer and songwriter known for his hit songs like ‘You Broke Up with Me’ and ‘Fancy Like’ was born on December 27, 1979, in Mobile, Alabama.

Hayes has gained recognition for his unique style that blends elements of country, pop, and hip-hop.

Hayes is married to Laney Beville Hayes and the couple has been together for many years, and they share a beautiful family.

Walker Hayes share love story with wife on ‘Today’

During a recent ‘Today with Hoda & Jenna’ segment, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager welcomed Walker Hayes on Christmas.

Hayes revealed, “There’s a TV show, it’s based on our love story. Me and Laney met when we were 17 and 16. And everything we’ve been through.”

He continued, “We tasted a lot of what the world has to offer, and here we are, almost 20 years into our marriage. But it’s been an incredible story. I think there’s something for everybody to relate to. The big dream, the victorious side. But really, a lot of the tragedy, a lot of the loss, a lot of the hurt, a lot of the loneliness in life.”

Hayes further said, “But again, there’s just beauty in what we’ve been through and being together now. And so there’s a lot of recovery, a lot of redemption.”

“It’s going to be amazing, but its kind of humbling that someone would want to take our life and put it together,” he said adding, “Like, who’s going to play Walker?”

Kotb chimed in asking, “Who is going to play you?”

Hayes said, “Don’t ask me. I think it’s a funny question because you’re like, ‘Who do I want to be like?’”

He continued, “And honestly, more like the guys who have like mystery like Johnny Depp. Because I don’t have that. I’m just like, here I am.”

Kotb and Hager interrupted adding, “Ryan Reynolds!”

Hayes said, “There you go!”

Walker Hayes talks about ‘Fancy Lake Christmas’

During the conversation, Hayes also opened up about his song ‘Fancy Lake Christmas'.

When Hager asked, “Whose idea was this?”

Hayes replied, “It was my label. I did not have anything to do with this idea. They spoke to me in October and they said, ‘Can you give us a Christmas song?’”

He continued, “And I thought, ‘Yeah, I’ll write you a Christmas song.’”

“But they said, ‘No, we want fancy like Christmas.’”
