What was MTMP conference about?
It was a conference for lawyers and their paralegals to share the stage on the ins and outs of class action lawsuits, and other related subjects.
It will take place in early April, and Ruffalo, who is a known environmental activist won’t be present.
Mark during his Oscars appearance ‘showed visible excitement while heading in over a Palestinian protest that delayed him,’ reports TMZ.
The actor was also wearing a pin representing ‘Artists Call for Ceasefire Now,’ which was also seen on other stars too.
Organizers found this a bit too controversial and don’t want the event to be overshadowed by the ongoing war in the Middle East.
What did organizers say about Mark Ruffalo's invite cancellation?
In a statement issued by MTMP, they explained the omission of Ruffalo, “While Ruffalo's attendance at MTMP was ONLY intended to relate to the important legal issues and proceedings surrounding the PFAS contamination of our water supply, we have listened and we have heard you.”
It further read, “We understand that the Israeli-Hamas war is a critically important issue to most of our MTMP family. The feelings we all have deserve to be discussed. However, I do not want the good meaning of our conference to get consumed by that discussion.”
In November, Ruffalo called out Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s comment, where he referred to Palestine in Gaza as ‘collateral damage.’ The actor also shared a petition to end ‘child bloodshed’ in the region after surprise October 7, surprise attack by Haman on Israel.
Internet shares mix-reaction on Ruffalo being canceled from conference
One commented on Facebook, "So I guess we preach about freedom of speech and the right to have an opinion. But when someone do so consequences. am I missing something?"
"I’m proud of his support and not being afraid. A true hero," a second said.
A user slammed Mark, "Good shame on him for supporting terrorism and the perpetrator of the war."
Another wrote, "He should be proud of not supporting genocide and ethnic cleansing!"
