NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Matt Lauer is plotting a return to the media spotlight!

The disgraced TV host, who was dismissed from NBC in 2017 following allegations of workplace sexual misconduct, is reportedly making efforts to stage a comeback.

Lauer has adamantly denied all allegations and has declined to offer an apology for his actions.

According to a source quoted by Us Magazine, “He went from being the biggest guy out there, and now every headline [attached to him] is ‘disgraced,’ It’s very painful for him to go out there with his girlfriend.”

Expert feels Matt Lauer can't return until he apologizes

The insider remarked on Tuesday, April 9, “He’s very thin-skinned — don’t expect an apology, he’s the one who feels is owed an apology.”

The reports also indicate that the media personality is currently occupied with the groundwork required for his potential return to the industry.

Lauer believes that "sufficient time has passed" since his dismissal in 2017.

“He’s started to talk to people,” the insider shared. “He’s planning his next act, still very upset with how he was portrayed, and still feels like he was the victim.”

In contrast, David Johnson, a public relations expert, suggested that Lauer would need to alter his approach if he intends to make a comeback to the screen.

"If he continues to view himself as the victim, he is doomed in his comeback attempt," Johnson informed the outlet. “If he is truly of the mindset that he was the victim he will not succeed. Americans want a sign of contrition and that he changed.”

According to a source familiar with Lauer, “He now very much believes that the media can’t be trusted. You go from being judge and jury to being I don’t believe the media. Couldn’t be more of a 180.”

Internet not too enthusiastic about Matt Lauer''s possible return

The internet responded to reports of Matt Lauer's potential comeback

“A true narcissist,” a person commented on Facebook.

“He needs to stay 'retired!'” said another user.

An online user commented, “Not surprising. He finally realized that almost no one suffered any actual consequence so there’s no reason for him to stay in exile either.”

“Lauer has never thought that what he did was ‘wrong’ and he is going to periodically try to come back until the end of time because he thinks that he is entitled to it,” felt a user.

One individual expressed dissatisfaction with the prospect of Matt's return, stating, "The unfortunate reality is that it's likely to succeed. Prominent men can often escape consequences for anything, and I mean anything."
