Aaron Carter's doctor accuses late singer's ex-fiancee of being 'evasive' in wrongful death court battle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As the court battle heats up, the doctor that Aaron Carter's ex-fiancee Melanie Martin and his son Princeton were suing for wrongful death has claimed they were withholding information from him.
Dr John Faber, who treated Aaron from 2020 to 2022, stated in court records obtained by Radar Online that his legal team is finding it difficult to be ready for trial since Martin and her son refused to respond to basic inquiries.
Aaron Carter's doctor blames Melanie Martin for being 'evasive'
According to earlier reports from 2023, Aaron's ex-fiancee Martin sued a dentist, pharmacy, and doctor in Los Angeles on behalf of the singer's son, Princeton. The pop icon was discovered in the bathtub of his Lancaster, California home.
The lawsuit stated that Aaron's death on November 5, 2022, was partially the defendants' fault. His cause of death was determined to be drowning by the Medical Examiner.
According to recent claims by Dr Faber, Aaron's family was given a list of questions to respond to but the answers have been "evasive" and "incomplete."
The plaintiffs were specifically asked to list "all specific acts or omissions (by description, date, and time) which you contend were negligent or below the standard of practice," per the doctor's demand.
Martin responded to Faber's questions by accusing the doctor of neglecting to check a database to see if Aaron had acquired the same or comparable substances from other sources.
Regarding the response, Faber's attorney stated, "Plaintiff failed to address any specific acts or omissions in which Dr. Faber committed or was involved."
"Furthermore, Plaintiff’s response is so broad and vague that Defendants cannot articulate what Plaintiff contends Defendant, Dr. Faber, did that was negligent or below the standard of care."
Dr Faber insisted that Martin be required to provide more information about what she claims he did to cause Aaron's death before they go to trial. The matter is still pending a judge's decision.
Aaron Carter's doctor initially refuted all accusations of wrongdoing
Aaron's family stated in the wrongful death complaint that the performer saw Faber for the first time on June 16, 2020. They alleged that Aaron was administered restricted medications by Faber.
The family claimed that Aaron purchased medications supplied by Faber between October 27, 2021, and October 12, 2022.
The lawsuit stated, "The prescriptions filled by Decedent were primarily for controlled substances including, but not limited to, Hydrocodone and Oxycodone, as well as Alprazolam."
Moreover, the lawsuit accused Faber of neglecting to "consult the CURES database to determine if [Aaron] was obtaining same of similar controlled substances from other sources," per Radar Online.
Faber refuted every accusation of misconduct. He maintained that "all care, treatment, and procedures rendered to and performed upon the plaintiff’s decedent were with the express and implied consent of plaintiff’s decedent."
His attorney added, "Plaintiff’s complaint, and each purported cause of action contained therein, was the result and/or cause of a natural cause or condition, or was the natural or expected result of reasonable treatment rendered for the disease or condition."
Faber requested that the court dismiss the entire lawsuit.
