LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans blasted ABC after the television network allegedly forced ‘The Bachelorette’ star Jenn Tran to watch her proposal to ex Devin Strader on live television on Tuesday night, September 3.

The dramatic three-hour season finale showed Tran, a medical assistant student from Hillsdale, New Jersey, sitting next to the 28-year-old Strader nearly one month after latter broke up with her over a 15-minute phone call, The New York Post reported.

The 26-year-old, the first Asian American Bachelorette, reportedly took matters into her own hands when she proposed to Strader in Hawaii. But the engagement could not survive as her ex “didn’t love me anymore”.

Jenn Tran claims Devin Strader ‘didn’t want to fight for the relationship’

Tran told the audience, “He’d basically said that he didn’t love me anymore and didn’t feel the same way and felt like something had been off since the second that he proposed. He regretted getting engaged.”

“He didn’t want to go to couples counseling. He didn’t want to fight for the relationship anymore. He was just done,” she claimed.

The freight company owner told her in response, “I failed you and there’s nothing that I can say other than that you know but everything I felt was real.”

Jenn Tran felt ‘best version of myself’ with Devin Strader

Sometime later, Tran was asked by program host Jesse Palmer if she was ready to watch the proposal video, to which she replied, “Do I have any choice?”

The tapped clip showed Tran telling Strader, “I can't let you propose to me. I’ve decided to choose myself in this journey and the best version of myself is when I’m with you,” while during the live telecast, she was seen crying and sniffling.

Netizens say ‘shame on’ ABC

Soon people took to different social media platforms to slam ABC as TikTok user Layla Taremi commented, “I am sick to my stomach! Jenn should not have been put through all that - how dare you ABC.”

A Reddit user said, “She was already humiliated by Devin and then the show humiliated her some more by making her watch the proposal.”

“WHY is the show making Jenn watch this proposal WHILE SITTING NEXT TO DEVIN this for real seems cruel. This feels mean. We easily could’ve watched this happen with her off-stage. Why are the producers treating her this way?” an X user tweeted.

Another user wrote, “What @ABCNetwork and #TheBachelorette just did to Jenn Tran is completely awful. Forcing her to watch her proposal, while sobbing next to the guy that broke her heart, is the worst kind of cruel. Shame on them and @JessePalmerTV.”

“Hearing Jenn say "do i have a choice" when asked to rewatch her proposal was so heartbreaking #thebachelorette #jenntran,” the third one mentioned.

The fourth user shared, “I have watched a LOT of reality TV in my day, and met more than a few borderline evil producers IRL. Given that context, I'm still not sure I've ever seen something as CRUEL and UNUSUAL as what the BACHELORETTE producers did to Jenn Tran last night.”

“Me liking every tweet about how fcked up it is that the producers made Jenn watch that proposal live while she was sitting next to that garbage loser. #TheBachelorette,” the fifth user added.
