Taylor Swift fans enraged as Skip Bayless calls singer 'a distraction' for the Chiefs after their loss

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Skip Bayless seems to have had enough of Taylor Swift being the subject of NFL coverage, or perhaps more accurately, the league's fixation on her.

On Monday, December 25, the Fox Sports commentator enraged the pop artist's followers by accusing the 'Love Story' singer of possibly contributing to the Kansas City Chiefs' 20-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Swift's lover Travis Kelce and his Kansas City squad have not been able to regain the form that won them the Super Bowl in 2022. To make matters worse, they lost to the Las Vegas Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas. Taylor Swift, as usual, was present in the stadium to cheer on her boyfriend and the Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.

After the Chiefs' 20-14 defeat to the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium, Bayless addressed quarterback Patrick Mahomes, head coach Andy Reid, and Travis Kelce, in a tweet about Swift's continuous attendance at the matches.

He posted on X, saying, "Feels like it’s about time to call Taylor Swift a distraction. What do you think, Patrick? Andy? How about you, Travis?"

Like several other times when Swift was there, the broadcast featured flashes of the 12-time Grammy winner whenever Kelce made a grab or the Chiefs scored a touchdown during the Christmas game.

The Raiders capitalized on an error by Isiah Pacheco and quarterback Patrick Mahomes to score the first touchdown, and moments later, Jack Jones scored a touchdown after intercepting a Mahomes pass.

The Chiefs gave up two touchdowns in a span of seven seconds, per Daily Mail. The Chiefs were frustrated with the game, with Kelce having an outburst at one point.

Kelce was seen smashing his helmet during in the game, and Reid and Mahomes tried to console him.

'Undisputed' host Skip Bayless and 'OutKick' creator Clay Travis claim that the Chiefs' performance this season is being negatively affected by the increased focus on the team that comes with Kelce's relationship with Swift.

Swift was seen on Monday by CBS Sports consoling Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes, following their defeat.

Clay Travis posted on X after the defeat, saying, "The Chiefs are not a good football team and Travis Kelce looks like he should retire."

"He’s been worthless the last seven or eight weeks. The double worthless Pfizer shots may have caught up with him. Either that or Taylor Swift is the Chiefs Yoko Ono. Maybe both."

On Tuesday, December 26, Bayless reaffirmed his allegations on 'Undisputed', stating that there is "a lot of stuff on top of the battles you are facing on the field."

The accusation by Bayless sparked a debate in the Swiftie and NFL communities, with fans of the 'All Too Well' hitmaker moving immediately to defend her from such accusations.

One user wrote, "Last time I checked Taylor Swift wasn’t playing for the Chiefs. that’s like calling out and Blaming the Chiefs poor performance on Britney Mahomes and his Little brother Jackson. It’s an Absolutely ridiculous and pathetic excuse."

"But half the league is married with at least one if not multiple side pieces, how is a woman with a billion bucks to her name a distraction?" questioned a second user.

A third one added, "Taylor Swift doesn't play WR. This is about accountability and looking into the mirror on Kansas City's end. Blaming Swift is a cop-out."

Another person further said, "The offensive line allows Mahomes to be sacked 4 times and hit 10 times. And, the NFL analyst thinks it's Taylor Swift's fault? Listen to the post game press conference. Plenty of reasons mentioned for the loss. None name Swift. The coach and team take accountability."

One more fan also replied to the clip of Bayless doubling down on Swift by writing, "Yeah, wide receiver coach Taylor Swift is really stuffing their season up isn’t she? What? She’s not a coach? She’s a boyfriend of one of the players? Then it’s nothing to do with her you weird, old misogynistic idiots."

"Yah it's definitely someone else's fault. Not any of the players making millions to do their job. Let's for sure point at someone else," chimed in another sarcastic commenter.

"Ahh yes, this is the reason *checks notes* THE LEADING PASS CATCHER ON THE TEAM has been distracted. Got it. Not Nagy, not an inept WR coach, a bottom barrel WR room. It’s Taylor swift. Got it," slammed another one.

"Didn’t know TS was a pro footballer," one more person quipped.
