‘Administration has not been the most honest’: Jasmine Crockett questions Trump’s reported border data

DALLAS, TEXAS: Newly announced Senate candidate, Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), has challenged the accuracy of the Trump administration’s reported border statistics amid claims of record-low crossings. 

During an interview, the congresswoman argued that the administration's data may be unreliable, stating, 'this administration has not been the most honest when it comes to reporting numbers.'

The exchange between Jasmine Crockett and the host began when NBC News’s ‘Meet the Press Now’s’ Gabe Gutierrez pointed out that many voters credit the president’s policies for a decrease in illegal crossings. 

Gutierrez asked Crockett if she could at least acknowledge the administration's success in lowering border encounters. 

Crockett offered a response, stating, “I will acknowledge that what is being reported is that border encounters are lower.” 

However, she immediately pivoted to a broader critique of the administration’s transparency.

She expressed skepticism regarding the official narrative, adding, “I will also say that we know that this administration has not been the most honest when it comes to reporting numbers, as we know that there’s new reporting that they have not been honest about the jobs numbers.”

We need is comprehensive immigration reform: Jasmine Crockett 

Furthermore, Crockett emphasized that the methods used to achieve these numbers are fundamentally flawed and lack legislative backing. 

She argued that the current approach ignores the need for a permanent, legal framework established by lawmakers rather than executive action. 

Crockett further remarked, "What I can tell you is he has invoked a very inhumane way of carrying out immigration. What I can tell you is that he has not worked through the Congress, and that what we need is comprehensive immigration reform."

Jasmine Crockett alleges civil rights abuses and targeted enforcement

The Texas representative concluded by highlighting what she described as a 'historic' and 'inhumane' escalation in enforcement tactics and custody fatalities. 

She raised the alarm over the detention of legal residents and the potential for racial profiling sanctioned by judicial rulings. 

Crockett detailed her concerns by saying, "What I also can tell you is a historic number of people have died in ICE custody since he’s been in.”

She added, “What I also can tell you is that we have a historic number of American citizens who have been rounded up, and what I can also tell you, is that this Supreme Court unfortunately, has given him carte blanche to o after people because of an accent or because of what they look like, and that is wrong."
