Adrien Brody says he 'got no sleep' after delivering longest Oscars speech in history

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Adrien Brody had a few words for his fans the day after he took home the Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in 'The Brutalist.'

During his acceptance speech at the Oscars 2025, he spoke for five minutes and 40 seconds which, according to World Records, is the longest acceptance speech in Oscars history.

Adrien Brody says he's 'grateful' after receiving Best Actor Award

Adrein Brody surpassed an eight-decade-old record.

Brody broke the record of five minutes and 30 seconds held by Greer Garson when she won for 'Mrs Miniver' in 1943, though there is no existing footage of the speech in its entirety, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sporting a casual tee and baseball cap, the actor appeared overjoyed in the video, with a broad smile on his face.

“Y’all I got no sleep. I got no sleep last night," Brody said in the Instagram video posted on March 3.

“I’m gonna keep this video short cause I know I made the longest Oscars speech in history,” he quipped.

“So, I love you all. You know I’m grateful. Keep smiling and I hope that this proves that dreams can come true, and I hope that your dreams come true as well. God Bless you," he said in the video.

Keeping the spirit of gratitude and optimism, the 51-year-old wrote alongside the video, “Believe in hope. Believe in yourself. Spread love, not hate. and thank you.”

Meanwhile, right after winning his second Best Actor award, the 51-year-old took to Instagram, sharing a heartfelt post for his parents.

Adrien posted two throwback photos of his parents from his childhood.

In the first image, he is seen planting a kiss on his father’s cheek. In the second image, his mother is seen lovingly cradling him in her arms.

"No matter the outcome, I am so full of joy and appreciation to be able to share this special moment with my mom and dad, who have given me the hope to dream, the encouragement to become the person I am, and to be brave enough to do what I still love to do today," he said.
