Aerosmith announcing retirement from touring for this ‘heartbreaking’ reason leaves fans devastated
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s a sad farewell for rock band Aerosmith as they announced “to retire from the touring stage” after Steven Tyler’s voice was left permanently damaged by a vocal cord injury last year.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee band issued a heartbreaking statement on Friday, August 2, where they announced the cancellation of the remaining dates of their touring while providing an update on Tyler’s voice.
It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history.

Aerosmith announces retirement from touring citing Steven Tyler’s vocal cord issues
Aerosmith, responsible for classics like ‘Dream On’, ‘Love in an Elevator’, and ‘Livin’ on the Edge’ announced their retirement on Friday, August 2, by writing on their social media, as reported by The Canadian Press.
Reminiscing their band’s formation over 50 years ago, they wrote, “It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history.”
“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives,” they continued emotionally.
However, they shared with their fans the gravity of Tyler’s injury, and wrote, “Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury."
“We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side,” they continued, before adding heartbreakingly, “Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”
Soon after, they announced their retirement, noting, “We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision - as a band of brothers - to retire from the touring stage.”
They also attached a heartfelt note to their fans who have been with them since their inception, writing, “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible.”
“A final thank you to you - the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true,” continued the stars.
They also added that whoever already purchased tickets from Ticketmaster would get refunded.
However, they added in their post, “For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point of purchase for more details.”

However, early in September last year, tragedy struck when Tyler suffered vocal cord damage and doctors ordered him not to sing for at least 30 days. Though several shows were postponed, they were hoping that the band would be able to make a comeback.
However, per the latest development, the band has decided to retire given the current status of Tyler’s health. We wish Tyler a speedy recovery!

"Truly a sad day for Rock & Roll. Fortunately, I was able to see Aerosmith 3 times, once in the seventies (first concert) once in the 80's, and once in the 90's. I consider some of those the best concerts of my life. Rock on Gentlemen!" wished another social media user.
