'Could actually see her skull': Howie Mandel recalls wife Terry Soil's inebriated hotel room collapse
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'America’s Got Talent' judge Howie Mandel recently revealed details about his wife Terry Soil's inebriated fall inside a Las Vegas hotel room earlier this year.
During his guest appearance on the US morning show 'Live with Kelly and Mark' on Monday, June 17, Mandel shared information regarding his February trip to Sin City with Terry, his wife of over 40 years.
Howie Mandel's wife Terri Soil had her 'skull exposed'
Awoken in the middle of the night by a loud boom during a recent trip to Las Vegas, the comedian and 'America's Got Talent' judge, 68, revealed to the stunned hosts that he discovered his wife lying in a pool of blood.
Mandel said that the two had "partied" and it was "too much" for his "tipsy" wife, though he claimed he was unaware that she had consumed too much alcohol before going to bed.
He said, "In the middle of the night she got up and — I don't know where she was headed — but she headed into the wall. And she fell and hit the wainscoting. She hit that as she went down."
Host Kelly Ripa winced as Mandel described the injury, "She slipped, went down, hit that on her eye, then fell on the floor and broke her cheek," the Daily Mail reported.
He continued, "I heard 'bang' and 'ahh' and I woke up and I went, 'Where are you?' And she went, 'I don’t know.' That's what she said."
Then, 'Live with Kelly and Mark' displayed an image of Soil on screen with a massive cut on her forehead and a purple bruise beneath her eye.
Soil was taken to the hospital and ultimately made a full recovery, but according to Mandel, he "freaked out" at the time and when he called for help, the hotel personnel sent several security guards to the room.
The 'AGT' judge continued to describe how he saw the horrifying image of his wife drenched in her own blood.
He explained, "I turn on the light, I look, I look around the bed. She's in the corner, face down, and I didn't know she'd cut her head. But blood is pooling."
"I freaked out. I picked her up, I put her on the bed. There's blood every[where]. I went and grabbed all the towels, and all the towels are covered with blood. And she's going, 'Get me ice. Get me ice,'" Mandel continued.
Then, he attempted to wrap two cans in a towel, but Soil's anguish was so intense that she threw the cans aside.
"When she did that, I saw her head, and you could actually see her skull. It opened up," He said to shocked gasps from the crowd. "I freaked."
Terry Soil had massive incision and bruise on face after accident
A close-up picture of Terry Soil's upper face then revealed the full extent of her injuries to the audience, taken after the blood had been wiped from her face and her cuts had healed.
A fainter crimson cut trailed down to the top of her nose, and there was a massive diagonal incision in the center of her face, ringed by a violet bruise.
Her left eye was swollen and discolored, extending from the top of her eyelid to the top of her cheek. A blood-stained cut ran along the bottom of the bruise.
Down below on her cheek, just to the left of her upper lip, she also seemed to have another minor cut or bruise.
It was unclear if there was any injury beyond the area of her face that was visible, as it seemed like the top of her head was wrapped up.
Fortunately, Soil has recovered fully since then. Mandel reassured Kelly and Mark, saying, "She is absolutely perfect. There is not a scar. She is beautiful."
