A'ja Wilson leads USA Women’s Basketball team to victory over Japan in Paris Olympics 2024

PARIS, FRANCE: The USA Women’s Basketball team has kicked off their Olympics campaign with a convincing win over Japan in their opener.

The Americans won the game 102-76, with a solid performance from A'ja Wilson, who scored a game-high 24 points on 10-16 shooting plus 13 rebounds, four assists and four blocks, per Bleacher Report.

USA Women’s Basketball team is competing for their 8th gold medal 

This was the 56th straight win for the team as they continued to pursue their eighth straight Olympic gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. 

The team will next compete with Belgium on Thursday, August 1 from their group.

Earlier in the day, Team USA gymnasts Paul Juda, Brody Malone, Fred Richard, Asher Hong, and Stephen Nedoroscik finished third position below gold medalists Japan and China at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The US scored 257.793, merely 1.801 points behind the first position - Japan. The US men's gymnastics team last won a medal in 2008.

Speaking about their preparation before the final performance, gymnast Nedoroscik shared “We didn’t watch any scores. We’re not going to watch any scores for the next competition."

"We’re just going to go and do our routines and lay the cards where they fall. I’ve always just tried to take any competition one event at a time, especially as I’ve gotten older," he further said.

Fans wished the USA Women's Basketball Team on winning their first match at the Paris Olympics 2024. The team was A'ja Wilson's performance which was the talking point after her incredible game.
