LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Al Pacino has announced the release of his highly anticipated memoir titled 'Sonny Boy' as he is set to reveal intimate details in the book.

"I wrote Sonny Boy to express what I’ve seen and been through in my life," the 83-year-old actor told People.

Al Pacino calls 'revealing' memoir an 'incredibly personal' experience

Pacino shared that working on the memoir has been an "incredibly personal and revealing experience to reflect on this journey and what acting has allowed me to do and the worlds it has opened up."

The 'Scarface' actor will delve beyond the glitz of Hollywood to reflect on his upbringing in the Bronx and also his early forays into the world of cinema.

'Sonny Boy' promises to be a captivating exploration of Pacino's life from his formative years at the High School of Performing Arts in New York, to his days in avant-garde New York theater.

As per the book's description, the memoir highlights "the spirit of love and purpose" that has guided the actor.

The audiobook formats of the memoir will have Paccino narrating the book himself. The memoir will also be published in hardcover and ebook.

Pacino, who is a nine-time Academy Award nominee for films including 'Dog Day Afternoon', 'The Godfather', and 'The Irishman', won an Oscar in 1992.

He won the award for the 1992 film 'Scent of a Woman' for his role as Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade.

He has also won two Tony Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.

Pacino's other accolades include the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award, the Kennedy Center Honor, and the National Merit of Arts from President Barack Obama.

'Sonny Boy' is slated to detail Pacino's artistic evolution, providing insights into his most famous roles and collaborations.

Reflecting on his life's trajectory, the actor remarks "My whole life has been a moonshot, and I’ve been a pretty lucky guy so far."

Pacino, whose original name is Alfredo James Pacino, was nicknamed 'Sonny' during his teen years when he was known for being rebellious while attending the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan.

In 2006, Pacino wrote the foreward for Lawrence Grobel's fully-authorized 288-page biography on the actor. The biography was titled 'Al Pacino'.

'Sonny Boy: A Memoir' which is now available for pre-order will be published on October 8.
