Al Roker gives away major cameo spoiler of ‘Wicked’ on live TV: 'Cat’s out of the bag'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Al Roker let slip a major spoiler about the highly anticipated 'Wicked: Part One' movie in an unexpected twist during the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade event.
The 'Today' show co-host, Roker, hosting a segment with Broadway icon Idina Menzel, revealed her secret cameo in the film adaptation of the beloved musical.

As Al Roker casually said, “You had a cameo in Wicked, in the movie,” to which Idina Menzel playfully but firmly replied, “You’re not supposed to tell anyone about the cameo! Cat’s out of the bag.”

Unfazed, Roker doubled down, saying, “Everyone’s been sharing everything online,” after repeating, "Cat's out of the bag!"
Menzel herself has hinted at her appearance in the movie by posting pictures of her on set in costume.
She confirmed that she and Kristin Chenoweth, 56, her co-star from the original 2003 Broadway production of 'Wicked' appear in the movie, according to the New York Post. The pair play members of a theater troupe in the Emerald City, performing 'One Short Day', a lively number celebrating the Wizard’s arrival to Oz.

Menzel and Chenoweth’s return to the 'Wicked' universe marks a nostalgic nod for longtime fans.
“It’s a source of great pride to be part of the genesis and the legacy that has become Wicked. I will hold dear forever,” said Menzel.
The actress also praised the film’s adaptation of the original stage production.
“The movie has been very loving and respectful of our show while bringing it to new heights,” she told Roker.
