Al Roker's ex-wife Alice Bell dies at 77, daughter pays tribute: 'I will carry her love with me always'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Al Roker's first wife, Alice Bell, has died at 77. Her death was announced by the former couple’s daughter, Courtney Roker Laga, on Instagram.

On Monday, February 11, Laga posted multiple pictures of her late mother on the social media platform, including two that showed her holding her granddaughter, Sky, while connected to an oxygen tube.

However, she did not reveal the date and cause of her death, as per E! News.

The legendary weatherman and Alice Bell's daughter wrote, "She was my mother, my heart, and the most loving grandmother to Sky. I was with her for her last breath, and I will carry her love with me always."

Roker, who wasn't present for Tuesday's episode of 'Today', has yet to share a statement about Bell's death.

The 70-year-old journalist tied the knot with Bell in 1984 after meeting her at WNBC, where she worked as a producer for 'Live at Five'. The pair went on to adopt Laga, who is now 38 and a chef, in 1987. However, their marriage ended in 1994.

A year later, Roker married Deborah Roberts, with whom he welcomed two children, Leila Roker, 26, and Nicholas Albert Roker, 22. 

Courtney Roker Laga's Mother's Day tribute to Alice Bell

As per reports, Alice Bell had been out of the public eye for many years. But her daughter, Courtney Roker Laga, shared a heartfelt message for her and her other mother figures on Mother's Day in 2022.

At the time, Laga penned, "Happy Mother’s Day to the three most important women in my life. My mom Alice, my stepmother Deborah and my mother in law Barbara ❤️."

Netizens took to the comments section of Courtney Roker Laga's tribute post to share their condolences. 

One wrote, "Oh no. I’m so sorry. It’s so difficult to lose your Mom. My condolences. Take good care," and another said, "So sad for you 💔 May your Mothers memory be a blessing to you."

"May she soar on angel’s wings! My deepest condolences to you and your family. Take a break and let your heart ♥️ grieve the loss of your beautiful mother," a person expressed, with someone else adding, "Thinking of you and wishing that the special memories you shared together will stay with you always."

"Oh no! Deepest condolences to your family. May her memory continue to be a blessing to you all," read one more comment. 

"I am so sorry! I will bury my dad this week. Their love and legacy are gifts," wrote one, sharing their own grief with Laga.
