Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria make their first red carpet appearance since 'Rust' trial
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Life is back to normal for Alec Baldwin and his family. The 66-year-old actor returned to the red carpet for the first time since his ‘Rust’ trial was dismissed.
On July 20, the ‘Saturday Night Live’ alum walked the red carpet at the premiere of ‘War Game’ in Long Island, New York, with his wife Hilaria, 40, per The Sun.
Alec Baldwin cleared off involuntary manslaughter charges
The ‘30 Rock’ actor’s appearance on the red carpet came just a week after the involuntary manslaughter charges against him were dropped in a New Mexico court. Baldwin was charged with an involuntary manslaughter case for the death of ‘Rust’ cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. As the judge dismissed the case against the ‘Beetlejuice’ actor, his wife Hilaria was present there as well to support him.
Photos from the courthouse show a tearful Hilaria comforting her husband as the charges against him were dropped. As the actor was leaving the courthouse, he did not address the media though.
Alec Baldwin's Rust shooting case dismissed
During the court proceeding on July 12, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning another case against Alec Baldwin for the same incident cannot be filed. Judge Sommer explained the reason, citing, "The late discovery of this evidence during trial has impeded the effective use of evidence in such a way that it has impacted the fundamental fairness of the proceedings."
Before the third day of the trial started, Baldwin's attorney, Luke Nikas, requested the judge to drop the case against his client to be dropped, claiming that prosecutors withheld evidence that would have helped clarify how live ammunition was brought onto the set of the Western movie 'Rust' in 2021.
As the judge signed the verdict, she also said, “There is no way for the court to right this wrong." "The sanction of dismissal is the only warranted remedy," added the judge.
When the case against him was dismissed, Baldwin hugged his wife and shed a few tears of relief. Hilaria was seen comforting her husband.
On the following day, the actor took to his Instagram to thank his well-wishers for supporting him during the tribulations.

Posting an image of himself inside the courtroom during the trial, he wrote, "There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now."
"To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family," added Baldwin.
