THE BRONX, NEW YORK: Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) won't back down on her "I'm a Bronx girl" claims despite her critics presenting some evidence that suggests otherwise.

The progressive firebrand took to X (formerly Twitter) this week to clap back at her critics and defend her upbringing, but the controversy around her Yorktown High School past keeps resurfacing.

“I’m proud of how I grew up and talk about it all the time. My mom cleaned houses and I helped. We cleaned tutors’ homes in exchange for SAT prep. Growing up between the Bronx and Yorktown deeply shaped my views of inequality & it’s a big reason I believe the things I do today!” AOC posted on Friday, June 27.

Matt Slater shuts down Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 'desperate attempts' to protect lie that she is from the Bronx

New York Assemblyman Matt Slater (R-Yorktown) wasn’t having it.

Over the weekend, he blasted Ocasio-Cortez for allegedly dancing around the fact that she grew up in Westchester.

“She’s embarrassing herself for doing everything possible to avoid saying she grew up in the suburbs instead of the Bronx,” Slater said Sunday, as quoted by the New York Post.

“She has said she visited extended family, she has said she commuted. Now she’s in between. It’s clearly desperate attempts to protect the lie that she is from the Bronx,” he added.

It's worth noting that while AOC was born in the Bronx, but moved to Yorktown — about 40 minutes north — when she was five. She went on to graduate from Yorktown High School before heading to Boston University.

Her critics say that it paints a very different picture than the one she often presents to the public.

Matt Slater resurfaces AOC's Yorktown yearbook photo after she takes a shot at 'Queens boy' Donald Trump

The latest flare-up started after President Donald Trump called her "one of the dumbest people in Congress."

“Also, I’m a Bronx girl. You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast. Respectfully,” she wrote, taking a direct jab at the president’s Queens roots.

That’s when Slater posted two photos to X — a throwback black-and-white pic of a smiling teen AOC, and the 2004 yearbook cover from Yorktown High School.

“If you’re a BX girl then why are you in my Yorktown yearbook?” he captioned the post. “Give it up already.”

Speaking to The Post, Slater called the whole “AOC-Bronx mythology” flat-out “laughable” — especially to the 36,000 folks who live in Yorktown.

“The truth is AOC is Sandy Cortez who went to Yorktown High School and lived at the corner of Friends Road and Longvue Street,” he told the outlet. “She may think it makes her look tough or like some kind of champion for the radical left who voted for Zohran Mamdani, but she really needs to come clean and drop the act,” Slater added.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls for Donald Trump’s impeachment

It's worth noting that Donald Trump attacked Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after she called for his impeachment for launching a massive strike in Iran without Congressional approval.

“The president’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers. He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment,” she wrote on X.

Trump didn’t wait long to strike back. “Stupid AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the ‘dumbest’ people in Congress, is now calling for my Impeachment, despite the fact that the Crooked and Corrupt Democrats have already done that twice before,” he posted on Truth Social.

He added that she “can’t stand the concept of our country being successful again,” because her party “aren’t used to winning.” The commander-in-chief added, “When we examine her test scores, we will find out that she is not qualified for office.”

AOC returned fire less than an hour later. “Mr. President, don’t take your anger out on me — I’m just a silly girl,” she wrote.

“Take it out on whoever convinced you to betray the American people and our Constitution by illegally bombing Iran and dragging us into war,” she added. “It only took you five months to break almost every promise you made."

But Slater, who represents parts of both Putnam and Westchester counties, chimed in shortly after, posting the aforementioned photos and captioning one of them, "Here's the Yorktown High School '04 yearbook pic. Friends Road looks nothing like the Bronx."
