NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is under fire after a constituent claimed the progressive firebrand walked out of her own town hall instead of answering tough questions about crime in her district.

During a candid chat on 'Fox & Friends Weekend', AOC constituent Guadelupe Alvarez said the congresswoman bailed mid-discussion after being confronted about the deteriorating quality of life in Jackson Heights, the Daily Caller reported.

“I went to one of the town halls where she was speaking in the Bronx, I believe, and when I asked the question of what are you doing for Jackson Heights? How are you aware of the crime and prostitution? Have you seen the neighborhood lately? She dismissed me,” Guadelupe Alvarez recalled.

“She said she’d be right back and never came back and just handed the floor to her assistant, which was really infuriating,” the constituent added.

According to Alvarez, the whole event felt more like a staged production than a genuine dialogue with voters.

“Not only that, we were given questions written by them,” she claimed, before adding, “So it’s like our concerns weren’t really addressed until, like, someone had to speak up, and I had to be that person, and she still does nothing. So, we aren’t being heard, no matter how much we go out there, there’s no accountability on her part.”

While Ocasio-Cortez jets around the country pushing her progressive agenda, things aren’t exactly peachy back home. Crime in her Queens and Bronx district has skyrocketed, up a whopping 70% since she first took office. It's even worse in some places. According to NYPD stats, precincts like the 110th in Queens have seen crime jump by 105%.

However, that hasn’t stopped the 35-year-old from hitting the road.

She’s been joining veteran Sen Bernie Sanders on his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour and hopping on the Democratic National Committee’s new “People’s Town Halls” campaign — a national push to reconnect with voters after a brutal showing in the 2024 elections.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez faces heat as she doubles down on immigration stance

This comes after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez faced heat for comments she made at the Jackson Heights town hall, where she reportedly confronted border enforcement official Tom Homan. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem told Fox News the Department of Justice should investigate her following her comments.

“Tom Homan said he was going to refer me to DOJ because I’m using my free speech rights in order to advise people of their constitutional protections. To that I say: Come for me. Do I look like I care?” Ocasio-Cortez told supporters.

“There’s nothing illegal about it — and if they want to make it illegal, they can come take me,” she declared.

Fox News' Sean Hannity asked Noem if AOC’s actions could amount to “aiding and abetting,” and whether the DOJ should “look into this situation.”

Noem didn’t hesitate. “I think the Department of Justice absolutely should look into this situation,” she said. “We’ve seen not just those that serve in public office be willing to break the law to facilitate the invasion that has happened and allow criminals to stay here. We’ve also seen judges take radical action to help protect these criminals. It’s time that we stand for what’s right.”

AOC had already hosted a virtual session back in February titled “Know Your Rights With ICE,” where she advised undocumented migrants how to respond to immigration agents at home or work — and that’s part of what has conservatives demanding accountability.
