NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took a swipe at Democratic "elites" and called former President Donald Trump a Neo-Nazi.

Her remarks drew backlash from several Internet users. Many mocked her statements and questioned her influence.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said people urging Joe Biden to step down don't want Kamala Harris on the ticket either

During an Instagram Live session, she criticized those urging President Joe Biden to step down from the 2024 race, claiming they are also opposed to Vice President Kamala Harris leading the ticket.

"I'm pretty sure a lot of people knew that the president is old. The president is very old. Donald Trump is also very old and a racist and a neo-Nazi. But anyways, I'm not going to talk about Trump right now," she said, according to the The Hill.

"If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave that they will support Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken," said Ocasio-Cortez.

"They’re not going to be fully honest...I’m here to tell you that a huge amount of the donor class and a huge amount of these elites and a huge amount of these folks...I see that are pushing for President Biden to not be the nominee also are not interested in seeing Vice President being the nominee," she added.

She further commented on Biden's performance in a recent debate, suggesting it didn't significantly alter public perception.

"A lot of people don’t love that we have the same exact match-up all over again, which is to say that the debate didn’t change much at all.

"It didn’t really change a lot in terms of people’s perceptions, in terms of where the electorate is at and going into the debate," she said.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls out anonymous Democrats leaking critical information about Joe Biden to the press

Ocasio-Cortez also criticized Democrats who leak information to the media anonymously about Biden’s candidacy.

"There have been lots of Democrats who have been giving little anonymous quotes to the press, to some journalist to print, and I'm not here to knock the press on it," Ocasio-Cortez said.

"I'm here to knock my colleagues on it, because to me, I think that's, and I'm sorry, I'm going to say because it's after midnight. That's bulls---. Like, if you have an opinion, say it with your chest and say it in public," she said, Fox News noted.

She urged her colleagues to publicly state their opinions if they believe it’s best for the country.

"I'm not coming for the people who have made a public statement and put their name on it...I'm talking about people who are too scared to say what they want to say in public, but somehow not afraid to say what they want to say to a journalist so long as they promise not to use their name. That's a bunch of horses---," Ocasio-Cortez added.

Intetrnet reacts to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s comments

The New York Democrat’s comments drew mixed reactions online. Some suggested her to chill as delegates will vote for Harris as the replacement.

"The delegates will vote for Harris as the replacement. Chill," wrote one user on X.

Another added, "Obviously true. The party that claims to be the protector of democracy has a few senile old farts like Schumer and Pelosi reversing the will of millions of primary voters."

Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks about Trump also drew criticism. One user commented, "She should be sued for this," referring to her calling Trump a racist and Neo-Nazi. "She knows her influence over the oval office ends with Biden," another remarked.

"So much for turning down the rhetoric. That didn't last!" mocked another. "Isn’t she lovely, bless her dark heart," wrote one more.
