'All My Children' star Alec Musser's cause of death revealed as self-inflicted gunshot wound
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA: The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the official cause of death for Alec Musser, the former star of 'All My Children.'
The press release, published on Tuesday, stated that Musser died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
Musser’s fiance found him on the bathroom floor
According to the report, Musser’s fiance, Paige Press, discovered his body on the morning of January 13, on the bathroom floor of their home in Del Mar, California.
A firearm was found in close proximity to him, and he was discovered "seated and slumped forward." The last sighting of him alive was the previous night.
Press contacted 911, and paramedics, along with law enforcement, arrived to confirm the death. A representative from the medical examiner’s office informed Fox News that a toxicology report had been requested, but the results were still pending.
The release also said that there were no contributing conditions to Musser’s death.
Alec Musser’s fiance mourns his loss
TMZ initially reported Musser's death last week after speaking with his uncle, Robert, who did not disclose any details regarding the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
Press, who was engaged to Musser, also confirmed his death through her Instagram Story on Saturday.
She posted several photos of him and wrote, “RIP to the love of my life. I will never stop loving you. My heart is broken.”
She continued in another slide, “Today is the worst day of my life. We were so happy.” She also addressed Musser directly, saying, “You were the best fiance I could have ever asked for.”
On Sunday, she told the publication that Musser had been suffering from “a severe case of Covid,” and she believed this had a role in his death.
Alec Musser’s career as an actor
Musser gained recognition for portraying the character Del Henry on the ABC soap opera 'All My Children' from 2005 to 2007.
He also made appearances on 'Rita Rocks' and the TV movie 'Road to the Altar' in 2009, as well as on ABC’s 'Desperate Housewives' in 2011. He was 50 years old.

On Sunday and Monday, Sandler and Hayek Pinault, both 57, posted memories from their 2010 comedy 'Grown Ups' on Instagram as they paid tribute to Musser, who passed away at the age of 50. Musser had a small role in 'Grown Ups.'
"I loved this guy. Cannot believe he is gone. Such a wonderful, funny good man," Sandler wrote on Instagram, alongside a still photo of Musser in Grown Ups. "Thinking of Alec Musser and his family and sending all my love. A true great sweetheart of a person."
