‘All That’ star Christy Knowings’ cause of death confirmed after she dies at 46
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘All That’ star Christy Knowings’ cause of death has now been revealed after her death at 46.
The actress breathed her last on August 11 at a Los Angeles-area hospital. Earlier, it was reported that she suffered an asthma attack before experiencing brain damage.
Christy Knowings suffered cardiac arrest
She was put on life support, but later her family members made the tough decision to withdraw it. Now, PEOPLE, citing a death certificate, reported on Wednesday, September 2, that Knowings died because of cardiac arrest.
The publication also noted that, as per the official document, other contributing factors that led to her death were acute hypoxic respiratory failure and status asthmaticus.
Following her passing, her representative issued a statement, saying, “Christy was a multi talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work.”
Christy Knowings’ ‘All That’ co-stars mourn her death
Knowings’ ‘All That’ co-star Kenan Thompson posted a heartfelt tribute, mourning her on Instagram.
He wrote, “Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!! Show @christyknowings some love y’all!!!”
Another ‘All That’ star, Josh Server, shared on social media, “This is such devastating news Christy was a light in every room and was such a kind soul. And Christy was an absolute scene stealer!!!!!”
"Every time we performed she made every one around her better. She came in late in our run and never missed a beat. So sad for my whole Nick family. Sending love and prayers to her loved ones. Rest Easy," he added.
GoFundMe started to help Christy Knowings’ parents
Besides, a GoFundMe page was also launched on behalf of the late actress’ parents to “give Christy the beautiful and dignified farewell she truly deserves.”
The fundraising page confirmed that “all funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward covering: Memorial service logistics to celebrate her life and legacy The funds will be sent to Renee Knowings Dunn & Charles Dunn to help care for Christy’s mortuary and funeral expenses.”
Christy Knowings revealed her favorite character to play on ‘All That’
Years before her death, Knowings had spoken to Bustle while discussing her experience on ‘All That’.
“My favorite moment on set was when I started to do this character in Season 6 named Gloria Bankhead. She was an over-the-top Martha Stewart. I had never played any character like her! I just remember being on set and being her all-day long. Everybody loved it! The writers, the stage managers, everybody was just like, ‘Hi Gloria!’ Gloria Bankhead was my favorite character to play,” she had revealed in 2019.
