'All That' star Christy Knowings dies at 46 after asthma attack left her with brain damage
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘All That’ star Christy Knowings died on Tuesday, August 11. She was only 46.
The tragic news was first reported by TMZ, citing a member of Knowings' family. The publication reported that the Nickelodeon star suffered an asthma attack that resulted in brain damage, leading to her being admitted to a hospital on August 7.
Family withdrew Christy Knowings' life support
Knowings was placed on life support, but on August 11, her family decided to withdraw it, resulting in her death at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
The actress’ death has left her former 'All That' co-stars devastated, with Kenan Thompson saying, “Man this one hit hard”.
Taking to Instagram, Thompson wrote, “Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!!”
“She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!! Show @christyknowings some love y’all!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️❤️😢,” he added.
Another ‘All That’ alum, Josh Server, posted on social media, “This is such devastating news 💔💔💔 Christy was a light in every room and was such a kind soul. And Christy was an absolute scene stealer!!!!!”
Admiring the late actress for her acting skills, Server added, “Every time we performed she made every one around her better. She came in late in our run and never missed a beat. So sad for my whole Nick family. Sending love and prayers to her loved ones. Rest Easy 🕊️.”
Christy Knowings starred in 'Mother and Child'
Knowings reportedly joined ‘All That’ in 1997 and remained on the show for three seasons, appearing in more than 30 episodes. She portrayed Penny Lane and Jessica in the recurring ‘Whateverrr!!!’ sketch alongside Amanda Bynes.
She also appeared in the 2009 film ‘Mother and Child’ and featured in three episodes of 'Sesame Street' between 2009 and 2011.
Kianna Underwood died months before Christy Knowings
Knowings’ death came more than six months after fellow ‘All That’ alum Kianna Underwood died after being struck in a hit-and-run collision in Brooklyn. She was 33.
In January, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) said, “There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.”
