OKLAHOMA, UNITED STATES: A caretaker, accused of murdering a young girl, is now facing allegations of being romantically involved with a jailer.

As reported by Law&Crime, 31-year-old Alysia Adams has been relocated from the Caddo County Jail as a state agency investigates the matter.

For context, on Christmas Day, 2022, 4-year-old Athena Brownfield tragically passed away, prompting prosecutors to escalate charges against the primary suspect, Alysia Adams.

Athena was allegedly killed by 37-year-old Ivon Adams and his wife Alysia, after being requested to look after her by the child's mother Jasmin Brownfield, according to prosecutors.

Initially accused of two counts of child neglect, in December 2023, prosecutors additionally charged Adams with first-degree murder.

Adams had alleged that her husband, Ivon Adams was connected to Brownfield's death.

Further details about Alysia's accusations and a new claim involving a jailer have also come to light.

What did the prosecutors report about Alysia Adams' involvement with the jailer?

Following the transfer of Alysia Adams from Caddo County Jail, a representative from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) stated on Sunday, “The Caddo County Sheriff’s Office requested the OSBI to investigate possible misconduct conducted at the Caddo County Jail”

They further mentioned, “This is still an ongoing investigation at this time. We are not confirming any names involved.”

Authorities reported that Alysia's narrative, alleging her co-defendant husband, Ivon Adams, beat Athena Brownfield to death on Christmas Day 2022, did not align with the findings of the autopsy.

In contrast, the county medical examiner’s office discovered "no fatal trauma" on Athena’s body and confirmed the absence of any broken bones.

The autopsy also revealed that the little girl's manner of death was deemed a homicide, with the cause identified as "acute pneumonia complicating malnutrition."

What are the updated charges against Alysia Adams?

Following the autopsy findings, the revised charges assert that Alysia Adams is accused of "placing Athena Brownfield in a closet and withholding proper nutrition from the child."

In addition to the murder charge, prosecutors have also levied one count of obstructing an officer against Alysia Adams.

This charge stems from allegations that she provided false information to investigators, claiming her husband had beaten Athena to death.

Alysia is also facing one count of child neglect related to her treatment of Athena’s older sister.

The investigation began when Athena's then-5-year-old sister was found wandering outside the Adams’ residence on January 10, 2023, as reported by authorities.

Ivon Adams, initially charged with first-degree murder, now faces second-degree murder charges.

He is also accused of unlawful removal of a body and child neglect.

Athena’s mother, Jasmin Adina Kay Brownfield, was arrested in May 2023 for allegedly abandoning her daughters with Alysia and Ivon Adams.
