Damar Hamlin marks one-year anniversary of on-field cardiac arrest with celebration of life
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Damar Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills star marked 1 year of his on-field cardiac arrest by getting inked!
The incident took place during the side’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, 2023, per People.
He marked the occasion by getting a heart-shaped tattoo on the nape of his neck, a photo of which was posted on the Instagram page of celebrity tattoo artist Alexander Brenes.
The image showed hands forming a heart shape with an electrocardiogram at its core. The caption read, "1 year later still locked inn."

Hamlin reflects on his charitable body's work in 2023
Hamlin also recognized the anniversary of his on-field health scare by penning a message on a GoFundMe page supporting a toy drive organized by his Chasing M's Foundation.
"As a donor to my charity, I didn't want to let the New Year begin without reaching out personally to thank you. This past year has been an incredible journey for my family and I, and the growth of my charity — through the generosity of people like you — is a great blessing to me," it read.
"In addition to returning to the NFL this fall, I've spent time creating the mission of my charity, which is focused on empowering youth and lifting up people who face adversity," it added.

Hamlin returned to the field in October
The 25-year-old further highlighted other charitable achievements from the past year. This involved organizing community events and introducing a scholarship program.
Hamlin expressed, "One of the most inspiring aspects for me has been hearing real-life stories of individuals who, inspired by my experience, became CPR trained and went on to save another person's life this year."

Hamlin made a comeback in October when his team faced the Miami Dolphins.
Reflecting on the experience, he shared, "I think it was more about making a promise to myself than anything else, demonstrating that I possess the courage, strength, pride, and everything else to navigate through something traumatic and come back from it."
"Being able to continue doing what I love at the highest level in the world is amazing," he stated after the game, as reported by the Associated Press.
