VALLEJO, CALIFORNIA: Iconic R&B singer Angela Bofill has died at the age of 70.

The ‘I Try’ crooner’s death was confirmed by manager Rich Engel on her Facebook account on Friday, June 14.

“On behalf of my dear friend Angie, I am saddened to announce her passing on the morning of June 13th,” Engel wrote in his first post.

In the second message, he mentioned, “Just to clear up the confusion. On behalf of Shauna Bofill, husband Chris Portuguese, we are saddened but must report that the passing of Angela yesterday is indeed true."

"We thank Melba Moore and Maysafor their early condolences. Thank for your many posts,” it read.



 

Celebrated percussionist Sheila reacted to Bofill’s death. “The Escovedo family is sad by the loss of this amazing beautiful soul. We are praying for the family. You will truly be missed my sister my queen. Rest in peace,” she wrote.

Bofill was at her daughter’s home in Vallejo, California, at the time of death, according to TMZ.



 

‘The Glamorous Life’ singer had suffered two strokes in 2006 and 2007, causing paralysis on the left side of her body. However, the cause of her death is still awaited.

In her 2011 interview with Denver Post, Bofill talked about returning to music again.

“I feel happy performing again. I need crowd. In the blood, entertain. Any time a crowd comes to see me, I’m surprised. No sing no more and still people come. Wow. Impressed,” she said back then.

The New York City native started recording music early and released her debut album 'Angie' in 1978.

Last year, Bofill was inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame, reports Billboard.

The singer is survived by her husband Chris Portuguese and daughter Shauna Bofill.

"Last documentary I watched of her she was so full of life and joy even with all her health problems. May she RIP," another remembered the iconic singer.
