LONDON, ENGLAND: Angelina Jolie revealed she has been feeling lonely “in a strange way” ahead of her legal battle with ex-husband Brad Pitt regarding the ownership of their French vineyard Chateau Miraval.

As Jolie, 49, awaits the release of her film ‘Maria’ based on the life of opera singer Maria Callas, the actress opened up about loneliness, which is a recurrent theme in the film.

The actress, who split from her Pitt eight years ago, recently spoke to The Sun, where she shared that she often finds herself “identifying with the solitude and loneliness she has.”

Angelina Jolie opens up on loneliness in new interview

Speaking to the outlet, Angelina Jolie revealed she spends most of her time alone now.

“'I have my children I love but as an adult I'm often alone,” shared the mother-of-six, who shares her children Pax, Zahara, Maddox, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox with Brad Pitt.

She shared that despite having a full house, “I find myself identifying with the solitude and loneliness she has.”

“I also haven't quite figured out how to live life in a way where I'm on my own, maybe a lot of artists feel that we're in an open space as a person,” added the star, before continuing, “'We don't quite settle. So it leaves us in a strange way sometimes.”

During the interview, Jolie further added that when she was portraying the role of Maria, she felt the emotional turmoil of the iconic opera singer. She shared, “When I’m up there crying, that’s my pain, that’s my grief.”

Jolie’s candid confession came just before the feuding exes are taking their divorce battle to trials in 2025, over the ownership of their stakes at Chateau Miraval estate, which produces an award-winning sparkling rose.

In 2022, Pitt sued Jolie for selling her stake in their Chateau Miraval estate without informing him. After multiple back and forths, the former couple is awaiting a 2025 trial, the ‘Babylon’ actor received a setback in the court recently.

In a recent ruling, the court ordered Pitt to hand over all the documents to the court that could prove his abusive behavior towards Jolie.

Following a fateful flight from France to the US, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt accusing him of abuse.

Angelina Jolie says portraying Maria Callas made her find her own voice

It is not only Maria Callas' loneliness that resonated with Angelina Jolie but also her resilience. Speaking to Cynthia Erico during Variety’s 'Actors on Actors' last week, Jolie revealed that learning to sing for the role proved therapeutic to her.

Recalling the experience, the ‘Maleficent’ actress shared, "People keep quoting me because I made, not the mistake— I admitted it was like a therapy. But it really is," according to People.

"Because I didn’t realize the practice of it and the learning of it is one thing, but it was finding my voice and letting my voice out that was really hard for me. And I was really emotional about it,” added the star.

The ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ actress candidly talked about losing her voice when tragedy struck her life.

"I didn’t know how much I had lost my voice. Maybe when I lost my mother, maybe when someone hurt me, whatever it was, the different things that had made it smaller and locked it away," Jolie shared.

“So,” she noted, “finding it and letting it come out was very emotional, and such a feeling that I wish for everybody to have."
