Angelina Jolie says she is 'looking forward' to facing Brad Pitt in Chateau Miraval trial
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angelina Jolie says she is ready to face ex-husband Brad Pitt in court as their years-long legal battle over Chateau Miraval heads toward trial.
The update comes after Pitt secured a recent court win allowing him to question key witnesses linked to Jolie's sale of her stake in the French winery. While Pitt's side described the ruling as "a step towards transparency," Jolie's lawyer insists it does not affect the merits of her case and says the actress is focused on defeating the lawsuit at trial. Pitt first sued Jolie over the winery in 2022.
Angelina Jolie says she is ready for Chateau Miraval trial
Speaking to People, Angelina Jolie's lawyer, Paul Murphy, said the recent court rulings have not changed the core of the case.
He said, "These rulings have made no impact on the merits of the case, and certainly have no impact on Ms Jolie's case."
Murphy added that Jolie is now focused on the trial rather than the recent legal developments.
"At this point, Ms Jolie is just looking forward to defeating the case at trial next year so that their family can finally focus their energies on healing and moving on," he said.
According to her legal team, Jolie believes the trial will finally allow both sides to present their arguments in court and help bring the years-long dispute to an end.
Brad Pitt wins court order for Stoli Group depositions
Pitt recently won a court ruling after a California judge ordered executives linked to the Stoli Group, the company that bought Jolie's share of Chateau Miraval, to give depositions before the trial. Pitt's legal team said the witnesses may have important information about Jolie's 2021 sale of her stake in the winery.
After the decision, a source close to Pitt called it "a step towards transparency," saying the ruling will help bring out more details about the sale. However, Jolie's lawyer said the decision is only about collecting evidence and does not decide who is right or wrong in the lawsuit.
Why are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fighting over Chateau Miraval?
The legal battle began after Jolie sold her share of Chateau Miraval in 2021 to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group. Pitt later sued, claiming they had agreed neither of them would sell their interest in the winery without the other's approval.
Jolie has denied that any such agreement existed. Her legal team has said the sale was a business decision made with her family's future in mind. Pitt, meanwhile, argues that the sale broke their agreement, and the former couple continues to battle the dispute in court.
