WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative media pundit Ann Coulter has announced she will vote for former President Donald Trump in November, although she considers him an "awful person."

In an interview with C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' on Sunday, August 11, Coulter said that she was voting for the GOP presidential nominee because of his choice of Sen JD Vance as the running mate, reported Mediaite.

Despite being a critic of Trump since his presidential term, she hoped the Ohio Senator would be able to press for the southern border wall if the Trump-Vance ticket wins in November.

The wall across the US-Mexico border was Trump's primary campaign promise when he ran for president for the first time in 2016. The US government started the construction in 2018 to prevent illegal immigration, but in January 2021, President Joe Biden terminated the plan.

When Host Peter Slen asked Coulter who she would vote for in November, she named Trump.

"Donald Trump, because if he loses he will be running again in four years and then he will have lost four successive elections for us," said the conservative columnist.

"Truthfully, I really like his choice of JD Vance, which I recommended back in May. Can't trust Trump as far as I can throw him, but I do trust JD Vance to care about the left behind people," she added.

After months-long speculation, Trump announced Vance as his running mate on day one of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee last month.

Coulter doubled down on her Trump blasting as the host mentioned her 2016 book 'In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!' According to her, the book was a roadmap for politicians despite her current distrust of the real estate mogul.

Nevertheless, she praised the 2016 Trump campaign, calling it one of the "greatest" as it changed the GOP into a party of her preference. Furthermore, the media pundit also urged Republican candidates to stop pretending to be like former President Ronald Reagan before labeling Trump an "awful" person.

"So I loved Trump coming out and saying, 'Oh, I'm rich and going to fix the country.' But the main reason, and if you read the book, by the way, I make it very clear that personally, Trump is an awful, awful person," she said, adding they were making an exception in this case because of the need for a border wall.
