In an attempt to manage the excited crowd, Hathaway speaks in Italian, and then conveys in English, "I cannot take photos with everyone but I will stand here and wave if you would like to take a photo. I cannot sign, there's too many of you."
She adds an apology in Italian, saying, "Mi dispiace," and in English, she continues, "But I want you to have something so if you'd like I'll just wave a little bit."
Expressing gratitude, Hathaway acknowledges the understanding of the crowd, saying, "Thank you for understanding, thank you for waiting."
