Anthony Scaramucci says Trump calling Harris 'dumb' is sign of his racism, Internet calls him 'irrelevant'
WASHINGTON, DC: Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci has criticized former president Donald Trump for his repeated attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, specifically questioning her intelligence.
Scaramucci, who briefly worked under Trump, believes these comments are a "sign of his racism."
Anthony Scaramucci calls out Donald Trump for attacking Kamala Harris
During a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Thursday, August 8, Trump made remarks about Harris that Scaramucci found offensive.
“I just want to say this, he called the Vice President dumb at least four times today, and that is a sign of his racism,” Scaramucci said on MSNBC, not holding back his views on Trump’s comments.
Scaramucci defended Harris' credentials, describing her as “an incredibly qualified person."
"If you look at her credentials and you look at who she is as a human being, it is absolutely absurd that he’s calling her that," Scaramucci said, according to The Hill.
"And people need to call him on that and hand check him on something like that," he added.
Donald Trump’s controversial comparison: Jan 6 vs MLK’s 'I Have a Dream' speech
Donald Trump’s press conference was also notable for his controversial comparison between the crowd size at his January 6 speech and the crowd that attended Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s 1968 'I Have A Dream' speech.
Trump asserted that the crowd gathered for his speech was larger than the one at King’s historic civil rights address.
“If you look at Martin Luther King, when he did his speech, his great speech. And you look at ours, same real estate, same everything, same number of people. If not, we had more," Trump said during the press conference.
But factually King’s speech drew an estimated 250,000 people. The House Select Committee responsible for investigating the events of Jan 6 estimated that Mr Trump’s speech drew 53,000 people, reported The New York Post.
Donald Trump's attacks on Kamala Harris' racial identity
Donald Trump had also previously commented on Kamala Harris' racial identity, claiming at the National Association of Black Journalists convention that she had leaned into her Black heritage after initially campaigning on her Indian heritage.
Harris, who is of both Black and South Asian descent, has been the target of various racially charged comments from Trump.
"She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn't know she was Black, until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black," Trump said on July 31, according to Reuters.
"So I don't know, is she Indian or is she Black? Trump continued. "But you know what, I respect either one, but she obviously doesn't, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden she made a turn, and she went - she became a Black person," Trump said, as per Reuters.
Internet says to Anthony Scaramucci is 'irrelevant'
In response to Anthony Scaramucci’s criticism, Donald Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung defended the former president, stating to The Hill, “For anyone like Anthony to link intelligence to racism is racist from Anthony in of itself.”
Online reactions were mixed, with some users mocking Scaramucci for his remarks.
One user wrote, "Anthony is the sign of racism." Another commented, "Intelligence does not equal race. Nice try though."
"Utter trash from utter trash," one more commented. "Trump dumped Scaramucci and his feelings are hurt," one suggested the reasons he made these comments.
Scaramucci's credibility was also questioned, with one user writing, "The Mooch attacking Trump is ‘a sign of his hate of intelligence.’ This guy is not smart."
Another added, "He’s irrelevant!" and one more claimed, "It definitely has nothing to do with the fact that she is not smart."
