Antonio 'Tony' McFarr: Chris Pratt’s 'healthy' stunt double found dead at 47 in Florida home

ORLANDO, FLORIDA: Antonio "Tony" McFarr, known for his work as a stunt double for Chris Pratt, was found dead in his Orlando, Florida home on May 13.

He was 47 years old. The cause of death has not been released, but a toxicology exam has been conducted and the results are pending

Tony McFarr was 'active and healthy'

Tony’s mother, Donna, spoke about her son’s sudden death. She described it as “unexpected and shocking," according to TMZ.

Donna said Tony was “active and healthy.” Meanwhile, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death to E! News.

"Been working with Tony since Jurassic World. Love you buddy! Happy wrap!" Pratt wrote in an Instagram post following the production of 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol Two' in 2016.

Tony's career was not limited to stunt work; he also had acting roles in TV shows like ‘Burn Notice’, ‘One Tree Hill’, ‘Army Wives’, ‘Graceland’, ‘Cell’ and ‘MacGyver’.

He also stunt doubled for major actors like Jon Hamm in the 2018 movie ‘Tag’ and Brendan Fraser in ‘The Poison Rose’ (2019).

His other credits included movies like ‘Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’, ‘Pitch Perfect 3’, ‘Logan Lucky’ and TV shows like ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Creepshow’, ‘Manhunt’ and ‘The Gifted’.

Tony McFarr's career and stunt work 

Tony McFarr had an illustrious career in the film industry, working on over 60 projects since his career began in 2011 with the crime series ‘Bones’.

He is most recognized for his work with Pratt, standing in for him in several blockbuster movies including ‘Jurassic World’ his first gig as Pratt’s double on the 2015 film and its sequel ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’.

He also performed Pratt’s stunts in the 2016 drama ‘Passengers’, according to Variety.

In addition to his collaborations with Pratt, his other stunt credits span a range of blockbusters and Marvel movies like ‘Captain America: Civil War’, and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’.

It also includes ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2’, ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’, and more.

Tony McFarr's passion for restaurant business

Outside of his work in the entertainment industry, Tony was also involved in the restaurant business, opening several establishments in Florida.

Tony studied at Florida State University and earned an MBA from Louisiana State University, he is said to have owned three separate restaurants as per his LinkedIn.

"I am 100% owner, operator, and creator of three successful restaurant businesses," he described on LinkedIn. 

One such restaurant is Reel Bowls, a poke and salad place with a cinema theme.

Pratt has yet to comment on the death of his stunt double. Tony is survived by his daughter, sister, mom, and dad.

He will be buried near his grandmother in Pennsylvania, according to TMZ. The family plans to gather in the coming weeks to celebrate Tony’s life.
