WASHINGTON DC: Senator JD Vance (R-OH) has stepped forward to counter criticisms aimed at Donald Trump's cognitive abilities, labeling such attacks as "absurd."

Vance made an appearance on Fox News to defend the former president, who has been indicted, against recent concerns raised due to a cognitive lapse.

This incident involved Trump repeatedly mentioning Nikki Haley's name before incorrectly asserting that she was responsible for Capitol security on January 6.

Vance stated in his interview, "I give a lot of speeches. Donald Trump gives a lot of speeches. Sometimes you misspeak."

He went on, "That’s not because of cognitive impairment, it’s because sometimes you misspeak when you offer thousands of words a day out on the campaign trail."

"Nobody that talks to Donald Trump would believe that he's cognitively impaired. He's as sharp as a tack and energetic."

In a 2022 campaign trail event, while giving a speech, Trump didn't merely slip up; he failed to recall Vance's surname while talking about his endorsement, per MTN.

He didn't just forget Vance's surname, but he also fused Vance's first name with the surname of Vance's rival, Josh Mandel.

The former president said to the crowd, "We've endorsed Dr Oz. We've endorsed JP, right? JD Mandel. He's doing great."

Vance's appearance reportedly aligns with efforts from Trump's supporters and conservative media channels to mitigate growing worries about the former president's cognitive well-being.

Jesse Watters claimed, "The media is warning us that Trump is mentally deficient. Why? He said Nikki when he meant Nancy."

Internet reacts

The Internet is abuzz with a variety of opinions on JD Vance's defense of Trump.

A user tweeted, "Nobody who gets that close would tell the truth anyway."

Another person said, "What about the people who listen to him talk? lol."

"Unless, of course, he answers back." added another.

One user remarked, "That's amusing, because anyone who listens to him knows that he most definitely is, and that his decompensation continues apace!"

"True. That's exactly what Nikki Pelosi told me." claimed another.

"Just as Nancy/Nikki," joked one individual.

"True, it’s only when he talks back that it becomes obvious," reacted another.
