WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stated that her office was "tagged with blood-splattered signs" accusing her of supporting terrorism after she criticized Israel for launching attacks in Lebanon and Syria, which included exploding communication devices.

Posting on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), AOC wrote on Friday, September 20, "Yesterday my House office was tagged with blood-splattered signs accusing me of supporting terrorism after I questioned the pager operation, which clearly runs counter to US policy."

"They must live under a rock to not know I don’t take well to bullies," she added, sharing a paragraph from the US Department of Defense's Law of War manual, which prohibits rigging common portable objects with explosives.

AOC condemns Israel’s deadly pager attack

Israel detonated pager devices loaded with explosives that it had planted among Hezbollah members in Lebanon and Syria on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a report by NBC News.

The attack claimed the lives of 12 people, including two children, and injured over 2,700. A day later, walkie-talkies were targeted in a similar fashion, resulting in 25 more deaths and hundreds of additional injuries.

Three US officials reportedly told Axios that Israel expedited its attack plan due to fears it would be uncovered. A former Israeli official also revealed that it was a surprise opening strike in an all-out war against Hezbollah.

AOC strongly condemned the surprise attack, tweeting on Wednesday, "This attack clearly and unequivocally violates international humanitarian law and undermines US efforts to prevent a wider conflict."

"Congress needs a full accounting of the attack, including an answer from the State Department as to whether any US assistance went into the development or deployment of this technology," she added.

Conservatives slam AOC's criticism of Israel while some netizens show support

Conservatives persisted in criticizing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for calling out Israel on X, even after she shared that her office had been tagged. However, some users supported her position, as seen in the following tweets.

"What runs counter to US policy is DEFENDING HEZBOLLAH," wrote a user.

"This is never OK. I might not completely agree with some of your stances on this issue, but this kind of behavior does not belong in America. Keep pushing back," pointed out another.

"It’s your right as a citizen to support whatever terrorists you choose," jibed a third.

"Insane how they don't see anything wrong with killing innocent children with pager bombs," noted a user.

"Have u tried not supporting terrorism tho," countered another user.

"Israel is fighting its own battle and does not have to abide by US policy," stated another.
