LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande is in the middle of a brewing controversy as the singer has been accused of plagiarizing American rapper Jhene Aiko's cover for her new album art.

Grande recently announced the release of her new album 'Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead', set for March 28. It is an expanded edition of her seventh studio album.

Ariana Grande's album's cover artwork looks the same as Jhene Aiko’s

On Tuesday, March 11, Grande shared the news on her Instagram with the caption, "Eternal sunshine deluxe" - leaving fans eagerly awaiting what’s to come.

However, the excitement was marred by a controversy regarding the album's cover artwork. Many people noted similarities between Grande's cover and one from Jhene Aiko’s 'Eternal Sunshine', which was a part of her album 'Souled Out' released in 2014.

X user @szadotcom shared the two cover images that looked quite similar and captioned it, "girl ariana ...." with two crying emojis.

Interestingly, Grande's 'Eternal Sunshine Deluxe' is aimed to continue the singer's successful journey in music who is fresh off her Oscar nomination for 'Wicked' (2024).

Moreover, Grande's new album's release is highly anticipated by her devoted fan base and the singer is looking forward to it.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Grande has been accused of plagiarism. In 2020, Ariana Grande and seven co-writers were accused of plagiarizing her Grammy-nominated hit '7 Rings'.

A lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York alleging that the song "is a forgery – plagiarized from plaintiff Josh Stone who wrote, recorded and published the nearly identical original work ‘You Need It, I Got It’ … approximately two years earlier", per CNN.

The lawsuit named Grande and seven other writers as defendants, along with many publishing companies involved in the song, including Universal Music Group, per the outlet.
