LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ashley Iaconetti opened up about her experience with breast biopsies in hopes of raising awareness about breast health.

During the March 4 episode of her 'Almost Famous' podcast with co-host Ben Higgins, the 'Bachelor' alum, 37, shared that she has undergone two breast biopsies in the past.

Speaking about her breast cancer diagnosis, Iaconetti shared, “I talked about this on the doctor conversation I had about breast cancer that I have had two breast biopsies.”

“This is, like, so TMI but I mentioned just about the feel of my boobs are different now after having kids than it was prior. They used to be a lot denser. But yes, that is common,” she added.

During an episode last week, she shared that she scheduled a checkup after noticing a lump.

“I’ve always had pretty dense breasts. There was one spot where it was particularly, it was a lump,” she said.

“I got a mammogram at 22 and an ultrasound and they biopsied it,” she added.

Despite the scare, Iaconetti assured listeners that she is healthy. However, the experience reinforced the importance of self-checks and regular screenings, according to People.

“I do play with my boobs enough that I would feel them,” she joked with Higgins.

“I think I would notice because of that sort of habit and especially now with the texture or consistency, I would absolutely. I should have more intentional checks,” she added.

Ben Higgins praised Ashley Iaconetti for being open about her health scare, noting that more young women are receiving breast cancer diagnoses.

“It’s something to talk about,” he said, adding “We’re thinking about Katie. Goodness gracious, her life has taken such a turn.”

Higgins was referring to 'The Bachelorette' alum Katie Thurston’s recent breast cancer diagnosis.

The 34-year-old, who starred in season 25 of 'The Bachelor' and led season 17 of 'The Bachelorette', announced her diagnosis on February 15 in an emotional Instagram post.

“This first step of acceptance of my reality was the hardest. But I am ready to fight this,” Thurston said at the time.

Breast cancer awareness and preventative measures

Breast cancer affects one in eight women in the United States, making early detection crucial.

Mammograms remain one of the most effective tools in identifying potential concerns before symptoms arise.

In May 2023, the US Preventive Services Task Force updated screening guidelines due to an increase in younger diagnoses.

They now recommend all women begin mammogram screenings every other year starting at the age of 40, a change that could result in 19% more lives being saved.

Health officials also advise women to practice "breast self-awareness," meaning they should become familiar with how their breasts normally look and feel.
