LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Austin Butler shared insights into the challenges of transitioning from his role as Elvis Presley in the film 'Elvis' to his latest project 'Masters of the Air.'

In a recent appearance on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert', the 32-year-old actor revealed he had only a week's break between wrapping the three-year filming of 'Elvis' and starting his work on 'Masters of the Air.'

Austin Butler says his dialect coach helped him remove 'Elvis' accent

The sudden turnaround prompted him to enlist the help of a dialogue coach to shed the iconic Elvis' persona for his Apple TV+ miniseries.

"It was a lot," the actor said of his transition, adding, "I was just trying to remember who I was, I was trying to remember what I liked to do."

"All I thought about was Elvis for three years. And then I had that week off and then I flew to London and at that time it was Covid so I’m quarantined for 10 days, so I thought alright just pour all this energy into learning about World War II now," he continued.

“I had a dialect coach just to help me not sound like Elvis in that film, that was the whole thing,” Butler added.

Austin Butler reveals Tom Hanks brought him to work on 'Masters of the Air'

Speaking to Colbert, Butler shared that his Elvis costar Tom Hanks who is an executive producer on 'Masters of the Air' played a pivotal role in bringing him onto the war drama.

“I was having dinner with Tom Hanks in Australia and he was sort of joking saying, ‘You’re going to lose your mind when you finish this three years of your life focused on this one thing, you’re gonna have to find something else to jump right into right afterward,’” he explained.

"And the other producer Pat McCormick, who is a good friend of mine, he said, 'Well Tom, find him something to do,' and then Tom said, 'Well I’ve got this World War II thing I’m working on,'" he added.

In February 2023, Butler revealed on 'The Graham Norton Show' that he continues to feel the physical effects of portraying the 'King of Rock and Roll.'

His portrayal of the music legend earned him an Oscars nomination and Butler won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture at the 2023 Golden Globes, according to People.
