NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former president Barack Obama entered the list of prominent politicians haunted by their past association with Sean 'Diddy' Combs following the rapper's arrest over sex trafficking charges.

Pictures of the 44th president laughing with the disgraced singer resurfaced online as the political world is yet to return to normalcy from his shocking arrest, as per Daily Mail.

Famous political figures, including former president Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, were under scrutiny for being photographed with Diddy or for praising him in the past.

A picture of Diddy with Obama was shared on X (formerly Twitter), garnering more than 600K views so far. According to the fact-checking website Snopes, the photograph is "likely authentic".

Barack Obama once praised Sean 'Diddy' Combs for his voter outreach efforts

Barack Obama's first encounter with Sean 'Diddy' Combs was during his Senate race days in 2004, when the latter rallied to boost the Democrat candidates ahead of the DNC.

Footage of Diddy's old interview with Obama resurfaced online after his arrest, where the Senate candidate from Illinois was seen praising the rap mogul for his efforts to motivate voters to get out the vote in the 2004 election.

The 'Victory' singer, whose wealth soared at the start of the 2000s, turned into a staunch Democratic supporter, boosting the party in several elections.

In the 2004 interview, Obama praised Diddy's voter outreach efforts, saying, "because he doesn't have to do this".

"This is part of what is important about giving back," the then-Senate hopeful said.

Their first encounter was cheerful as the rapper joked about Obama sweating at the DNC. Obama played along, patting his forehead with a handkerchief as Diddy quipped he "wanted to apologize for not sweating".

The now 54-year-old singer later backed Obama's triumphant 2008 presidential bid and hosted a Last Chance for Change rally in Florida during the campaign's final stretch.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs' past encounters with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump

Before Barack Obama's videos with Sean 'Diddy' Combs exploded, Vice President Kamala Harris and her 2024 White House race rival Trump made headlines for their past association with the jailed rapper.

Harris, in 2020, praised him in an X (formerly Twitter) post for hosting a town hall to bring to attention the impact of Covid-19 on Black communities.

Numerous photos of Trump and Diddy were widely shared online. The real estate mogul was photographed with the disgraced rapper during a 2005 fundraiser event at Mar-a-Lago. However, at the time, Trump was a registered Democrat, and the fundraiser was for his now-rival party.

Diddy was arrested on September 16 at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan over serious trafficking charges. He would remain imprisoned until trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
