Bebe Rexha tears up over 'hate crime' against her at Munich airport
MUNICH, GERMANY: Bebe Rexha, the 34-year-old pop star, has claimed she was the victim of a "hate crime" after an incident at a German airport.
On Saturday, August 17, Rexha took to her Instagram Story to share her distressing experience, alleging that she was "threatened" and subsequently banned from a Lufthansa flight at Munich Airport.
The incident reportedly occurred after she spoke Albanian to a security official, mistaking him for a fellow Albanian.

The 'Home' singer, who was born in New York to Albanian-North Macedonian parents, shared a series of emotional posts detailing the ordeal.
"I’ve been threatened because I thought the security agent was Albanian," she captioned a video where she can be seen sobbing.
She explained that she spoke Albanian to the security agent, asking where to get her ticket, and was then banned from the flight.
"I spoke to him in Albanian asking where to get my ticket and now he is banning me from the flight."
The singer's distress was palpable as she further elaborated on her experience in another post.
"I believe this to be a hate crime because I am Albanian. He would not let me take his name. He continued to mentally abuse me to make me feel like he was more powerful [than] he was. Not one of the women at @Lufthansa stepped in or said something," she wrote.

The 'Say My Name' singer also mentioned that she later discovered the security agent worked for ATSG, a service company hired by Lufthansa for document control.
"He would not give me his name. But I just found out he works for ATSG a service company document control hired by Lufthansa," Rexha added towards the end of her post.
The pop star also reposted a request from another Instagram user asking for the singer to be brought home safely, and called for the Munich Airport to “investigate the male officer who threatened a [woman]” for speaking Albanian.
A representative for Lufthansa told TMZ that the airline is in contact with Rexha to get the full story. Lufthansa reportedly added that “diversity and equal opportunity are core values to their company.”

The incident also sparked more intense reactions from some fans. Rexha had previously shared that Safyari purportedly discussed her weight gain.
