Ben Affleck and Lopez's public disputes stem from actor's struggle with photography, source claims
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Insiders believe that although Ben Affleck would prefer more solitude, he knows that his wife Jennifer Lopez 'loves' being snapped, which is why the two are 'butting heads' over being photographed in public.
The 51-year-old actor, who has a tense history with photographers, often appears with a dejected expression on his face, making frantic gestures at the 54-year-old singer.
However, Lopez stated that her husband is "happy" when asked about their alleged furious encounters at the Sunday night Golden Globes. JLo was also awkwardly asked how she knew this was her "last" marriage.
Ben Affleck 'hates the paps always following him and Jen'
Supporting Affleck's 2023 film 'Air,' Lopez and Affleck attended Sunday's awards event. The couple rekindled their romance in 2021 and were married in 2022, two decades after they initially met.
While Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell presented an award and put on a funny dance routine, Affleck was observed grinning and laughing while seated alongside Lopez, Matt Damon, and Damon's wife Luciana Barroso.
Speaking about Affleck's grumpy facial expressions, an insider reportedly dispelled the misunderstanding when they revealed to Daily Mail: "Ben and Jen are doing very well... A lot of the times we see Ben upset, it's because he just hates the paps always following him and Jen."
"It is just one part of his day that he dreads, and often times it seeps into his everyday life and it ends up looking like he is upset with the people he is with or his surroundings, when it is actually just some photographers that are just jerks," the insider added.
"Ben doesn't like red-carpet photos or being snapped by photographers when they are out doing regular life," the person stated. "He knows Jen loves it, so it does put them at odds at times, but they eventually fall back to a place with each other to be happy."
The insider further added: "Navigating the life they live as a celebrity couple can be trying sometimes because Ben just wants to go to a restaurant or get coffee and be done with it and just have more privacy - but Jen is all about it."
"So, they butt heads there but it isn't in any way ruining their relationship... They are really in a good place."
After walking the red carpet by himself, Lopez appeared to ask Affleck for an embrace during Sunday's event inside the Beverly Hilton.
Regarding the actor's somewhat gloomy images, Lopez told Entertainment Tonight: "Ben is doing alright. You don’t need to worry about Ben, let me just tell you. He is good. He is happy. I'm chilling, I don’t understand what people are so pressed for."
JLo earlier responded to criticism of her husband's facial expressions
Lopez has humorously responded to criticism of her husband Affleck's facial expressions in public before, as evidenced by her remarks on Sunday, January 7, during the Golden Globes red carpet.
The 'Air' trailer was first posted by Lopez on her Instagram account back in February 2023. Among the most noteworthy additions was a still photo of Affleck playing Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike, Inc., with the phrase "my husband's happy face."
A still photo of Affleck as Nike, Inc. co-founder Philip Knight appears on Lopez's post before the trailer's release. The caption reads "my husband's happy face," which seems to be a reference to online criticism of Affleck's 2023 Grammy Awards look.
While the video mostly displays the upcoming film's trailer, Lopez penned something in the caption: "AIR … cannot wait!"

During the live broadcast of the Grammy Awards 2023, Affleck made news by appearing bored, which led to Lopez's playful Instagram post.
The couple enjoyed performances throughout the evening while sitting next to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his wife Lauren Hashian at the Los Angeles event while grinning for photos, per PEOPLE.
