Ben Affleck engraved sweet message on Jennifer Lopez's $5M engagement ring but it was not meant to be
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s engraved promise has resurfaced with their official divorce filing.
Despite Affleck's previous promises of commitment, including his wedding vows and the extravagant $5 million engagement ring he gave Lopez, the couple is now separating.
On August 20, Lopez filed for divorce on their second wedding anniversary, listing April 26 as their separation date. This filing follows months of speculation about their relationship.
Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring from Ben Affleck was designed with promise
Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring from Ben Affleck was thoughtfully designed with various elements symbolizing their love story. She has previously shared the significance behind the ring.
The design features an 8.5-carat radiant-cut green diamond, flanked by two half-moon accent diamonds and set on a platinum band, with an engraved message from Affleck reading, "not.going.anywhere."
Lopez explained in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music that this phrase was how Affleck signed his emails when they reconnected, symbolizing his commitment: "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere."
The couple rekindled their romance in April 2021, 17 years after their first engagement ended in 2004 when Affleck proposed with a 6-carat radiant-cut pink diamond ring from Harry Winston.
In April 2022, Affleck proposed again, this time with a green diamond ring, as per People.
Lopez announced the engagement in her 'On the JLo' newsletter, revealing that Affleck proposed to her while she was enjoying a bubble bath.
She described the moment as a complete surprise and emotionally overwhelming, saying, "I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again, I was quite literally speechless and he said, is that a yes? I said YES of course that's a YES."
She also mentioned, "It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could've ever imagined, just a quiet Saturday night at home, two people promising to always be there for each other."
Lopez noted that "green has always been my lucky color and now, for sure, it always will be." The couple married in Las Vegas in July 2022 and held a larger celebration in Georgia the following month.

Another added, "He meant he wanted to stay home."
One user on Instagram poked fun at Jennifer Lopez, "She’s about to get back with another ex."
Another person wrote on Facebook, "He's right. The ring is staying in her safe."
One more user added, "What he meant was, The Marriage is not going to go anywhere. He knew it wouldn't last!"
Another one wrote, "She's gone and the ring is gone with her. So the engraving is correct. The ring is not leaving her. Ever."
Another added, "He forgot to go back and have the engraving on the ring finished, to include "for now.""
