Earlier this year, it was reported that the couple was living apart, with Affleck relocating to a rental and their marital mansion up for sale. Though neither Affleck nor Lopez has officially filed for divorce, persistent rumors of their split have been making headlines for months.

Ben Affleck’s birthday marks the third significant milestone in which the couple has been apart. He missed Jennifer Lopez’s extravagant 'Bridgerton'-themed birthday party in the Hamptons, and they were also absent from each other’s company for their second wedding anniversary, as reported by E! News.

While Lopez spent her second wedding anniversary day in the Hamptons, the 'Argo' actor was in Los Angeles.

Speaking of their birthday celebrations, in stark contrast to the 'Ain't Your Mama' singer's over-the-top birthday bash, Affleck’s plans were decidedly low-key. A source said, “Ben is planning to keep things intimate for his birthday and spend it with close friends and family,” though it remains unclear whether Lopez was included in these plans.

“Jennifer Garner is being communicative and an understanding shoulder for Ben," added the insider.

Jennifer Garner and John Miller’s low-profile romance

In April, it was revealed that Jennifer Garner is dating businessman John Miller, opting “to date out of the spotlight".

“They have a very special relationship. It’s never been the easiest one though since they both have families,” a source added. “They took a long break from dating, but Jen is very happy that they are back together.”

Garner who shares three children with Affleck is "there for him every step of the way and given the involvement of their kids, she’s very supportive".

"She also respects his private and personal life and doesn’t get too involved,” the source said.

Further, Lopez did make a brief appearance at the three-time Golden Globes winner's home on August 11 and even visited Garner’s house, taking her son, Samuel, shopping.

“Just because she’s not with Ben doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about his kids,” a source revealed, per People.

“She always cared about them. She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year. Now when she’s back in LA she wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes and Violet is off to college."
