LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The secret to Bette Midler and her husband Martin von Haselberg's 40-year happy and lasting marriage is simple: they sleep in "separate bedrooms."

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the legendary actress talked about her nearly 40-year marriage to husband Haselberg, revealing that they have never shared a bedroom.

Speaking about her latest film 'The Fabulous Four',  where her character dons a wedding gown, Midler, 78, began to reflect on her 1984 wedding to artist Haselberg, 75, and shared the key to their enduring union.

The 'Hocus Pocus' star revealed, "Separate bedrooms. My husband snores."

The actress said that although she and Haselberg haven't shared a bedroom since their romance began, "it's been a fabulous ride."

After six weeks of dating, the couple married in Las Vegas in December 1984, and have a daughter named Sophie von Haselberg, 37, who is also an actor.

According to Midler's 1991 interview with Vanity Fair, she met her husband in 1981 when they went to a concert in Los Angeles with mutual friends.

The two ran into each other again after a night out, two years later. At that time, Midler offered Haselberg her phone number, but he didn't call her to ask her out for another year.

After they started dating, the couple decided to get hitched and were married six weeks after their first date, per People.

In her next movie, 'The Fabulous Four,' Midler appears alongside her daughter Sophie and Susan Sarandon, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Megan Mullally, per Fox News.

The film centers on the four ladies, who have been friends for life, as they fly to Florida for Midler's character's wedding. The official synopsis states that "there are enough sparks, drinks, and romance to change all their lives in ways they never expected."

About her daughter's ambitions to become an actor, Midler remarked, "I was more than averse [to letting her go into acting]. I was frightened for her, and she was just a little girl."

"I made a terrible mistake by saying, ‘If you go into show business, I’ll kill you.’ And she took it very much to heart. She’s brilliant. She’s great. She’s the love of my life," Midler added.

Social media users reacted humorously to Bette Midler's revelation that she and her husband Haselberg have not shared the same bedroom during their 40-year marriage.
