HOUSTON, TEXAS: Beyonce’s homecoming performance in Houston kicked off her two-night Cowboy Carter Tour stop with a heart-pounding moment that had fans holding their breath.
During the show at NRG Stadium on Saturday, June 28, the pop superstar experienced a technical malfunction mid-performance while suspended in the air. The incident temporarily halted the show and sparked a flurry of reactions online.
The mishap occurred as Beyonce performed '16 Carriages' from atop a red convertible hoisted above the crowd. When the car unexpectedly began to tilt mid-song, the singer kept her composure, calmly instructing the crew to stop the performance, reported People.

A viral TikTok video captured the tense moment as Beyonce, wearing a harness, gripped one of the car’s cables and said, “Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,” into her microphone. The music cut out immediately.

Still suspended, she scanned the scene, smiled reassuringly at fans, and told the crowd, “Thank y’all for your patience.” She was then slowly lowered back to the stage.
After being lowered, the singer briefly left the stage but returned shortly after to finish the set. It was later confirmed that the performance continued without further incident, Hot New Hip Hop reported.
Later, in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Beyonce was seen addressing the crowd after resuming the show. “If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me,” she said, receiving thunderous applause in response.

After the show, Beyonce's team released a statement addressing the incident. "Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyonce uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident," Parkwood Entertainment said.
The cause of the malfunction has not been disclosed.
