WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden, in his latest slip-up, gave new titles to GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance and Vice President Kamala Harris at an event where he established new gun-focused task forces.

The soon-to-be-retiring incumbent spoke at the East Room of the White House on Thursday, September 26, addressing the surge in gun violence in the country.

During the address, Biden called the running mate of Donald Trump, Sen Vance, as "secretary," and his own VP-turned-presidential nominee Harris as the "boss," according to the New York Post.

Biden makes latest gaffe while slamming JD Vance

"I've been to all but three mass shootings in the United States of America," Biden said to the gathering before turning into an attacking mode against Vance for calling mass shootings a "fact of life."

"I'm going to be very blunt, Secretary Vance of Ohio has called these shootings facts of life. Who the hell do these people think they are?" Biden said, mistaking the GOP vice presidential candidate's senator position as secretary.

Vance, earlier this month, faced backlash for dismissing school shootings as a "fact of life" in America after his remarks to a reporter at a Phoenix rally were taken out of context.

"I don't like to admit this. I don’t like that this is a fact of life," Vance said at the time. "But if you're a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets, and we have got to bolster security at our schools so that a person who walks through the front door, they’re not able to."

The new executive order Biden signed would establish new committees to explore active-shooter drill implementation in schools and to study possible regulations for 3-D printed firearms and devices that can convert semiautomatic weapons into machine guns.

The 81-year-old, nearing the end of his single-term presidency, handed over the pen to VP Harris to sign the order saying, "Keep it going, boss."

Biden, who is infamous for his myriad of gaffes, mistakenly said to world leaders gathered at a New York City event, "Welcome to Washington," on September 25.

The president withdrew from his reelection bid in July following Democratic pressure due to his poor debate performance against Trump. His term would come to an end on January 20, 2025.

Harris, who became the Democratic presidential nominee last month, has put forth herself as a practical gun owner advocating for stricter gun control measures, recently quipping anyone intriguing her house would be shot.

Internet mocks Biden as he calls JD Vance 'secretary' and Kamala Harris 'boss'

Netizens ridiculed Biden's latest slip-up, mistaking the titles of his former opponent's running mate Vance and current VP Harris.

"Why can't you stop Joe..." a user wrote, sharing a meme of Barack Obama and Biden in a Trump 2024 cap.

"I believe the charade is over, Joe has become a muttering potted plant…" another added.

"Somebody please put this guy in a place where he can feel good and we can ignore him? Even hate looks worse today," a third user wrote.

"Biden's memory is so sharp, he’s promoting Senators to Cabinet positions now. Impressive leadership!" read a fourth response.

"He's so cooked," an individual said.

"He’s not even the smartest thing in an empty room," another remarked.

"It’s time for him to retire. He is an embarrassment to our country n world leaders are laughing," someone else wrote.

"Poor thing! He lost it three years ago and they still have him in to represent us - America! SAD," one user chimed in.

Another added, "He needs to get out of the public eye. Somebody needs to be charged with an Elder Abuse. This is a disgrace."
