NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Stephen Colbert recently made headlines when he described Donald Trump as "kind of boring" during an appearance on 'PBS NewsHour'.

True to his form, the former president couldn't resist responding to the comedian. In a Truth Social post, Trump exclaimed, "He is VERY BORING," clearly taking offense to Colbert's remarks.

Stephen Colbert won't be hosting Donald Trump again

Stephen Colbert and his wife, Evie McGee Colbert, appeared on 'PBS NewsHour' on Monday, September 23, to promote their new bestseller cookbook, 'Does This Taste Funny?'

When asked by host Amna Nawaz if he would invite Trump back on 'The Late Show', the comedian responded, "I have had him before, and he was kind of boring. So, no," adding, "I don’t like to have people on the show who I don’t think are gonna be honest agents of their own ideas."

He further said, "Politicians always represent an idea, so if I think a politician is disingenuous– and not to point out Mr Trump specifically because there are many politicians I wouldn’t want to talk to that I think do not honestly represent what they actually believe, but are rather just playing to a crowd. So that’s just no fun."

Trump appeared on 'The Late Show' for the first and possibly last time nearly a decade ago, in September 2015, when he was still perceived as a long-shot presidential candidate.

Donald Trump has a meltdown as Stephen Colbert calls him 'boring'

In his Truth Social tirade, Trump admitted that he "briefly watched an interview of Stephen Colbert on highly government subsidized PBS," before adding that he "found it fascinating for only one reason — Why would they be wasting time and the public’s money on this complete and total loser?"

He further wrote, "He is not funny, which he gets paid far too much to be, he is not wise, he is VERY BORING, and his show is dying from a complete lack of viewers —Gutfeld, on cable, is killing him!" possibly hinting at Fox News' Greg Gutfeld

"CBS should terminate his contract and pick almost anyone, right off the street, who would do better, and for FAR LESS MONEY — Or I could recommend someone, much more talented, and smarter, who would do it for FREE!" suggested Trump to the network.

It's worth noting that Trump previously hosted 'The Apprentice', a show from which he was famously fired in 2015 for making "derogatory statements" about immigrants, according to NBC.

However, his recent rant wasn't limited to CBS or Colbert, he also took digs at Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, writing, "The good news for Stephen is that the two DOPES on NBC & ABC are not much better than him!

Stephen Colbert calls Donald Trump's meltdown 'predictable'

During a recent installment of 'The Late Show', Stephen Colbert addressed former President Donald Trump's Truth Social tirade.

He said, "Yeah, still if you’re wondering why Trump wrote that in all caps, very boring, I am confident that it's because during that PBS interview, I said this," before playing a clip of the moment where he called the GOP nominee boring, eliciting laughter from the audience.

"He’s clearly upset because I called him boring. And I called him boring ‘cause I knew it would upset him, which it did, 'cause he’s so predictable, which is ultimately what makes him kind of boring," added the late-night talk show host.
