WASHINGTON, DC: Outgoing President Joe Biden's appearance at the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Washington, DC, on Thursday, December 5, went viral on social media, especially for the ruffled state of his hair.

The 82-year-old looked a bit more weary than usual as he took to the stage at the event, with his hair seemingly more wispy and wild than in recent years, according to Nicki Swift.

Netizens were quick to draw comparisons of him with fictional characters such as Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens' 'The Christmas Carol', as well as President-elect Donald Trump, who has been subjected to numerous gaffes concerning his hairdo.

Joe Biden mumbles throughout the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonial speech

According to a video shared by the White House, there was a noticeable shift in Joe Biden's voice, as he mumbled throughout the ceremonial speech with the words being barely discernable.

"The theme is 'A Season of Peace and Light'...the peace we feel as we pause and reflect on our blessing and the light...we see as we gather with loved ones that cherish our time together," said the oldest sitting president of the nation.

"During this season of reflection and renewal, many of us will sing ‘O Holy Night.’ A phrase in the song is, ‘His law is love; His gospel is peace,'" the president went on.

Biden added, "May [sic] wish for you and for the nation, now and always, is we continue to seek the light of liberty and love, kindness and compassion, dignity and decency."

Sitting through the musical acts following his speech, he did attempt to have a light moment with the press, asking a group of journalists, "You're still here?"

Internet in stitches over Joe Biden's wispy hair

Netizens had a field day as photos of the outgoing president's tousled hair from the Christmas tree lighting ceremony made their way to social media platforms.

One joked, "Biden’s entire presidency summed up in a hairdo," and another said, "The new Zoolander looks lit af," referring to the Ben Stiller-directed comedy.

"And then he told you to get off his lawn... am I right?" quipped a person, while someone else jibed, "That’s Biden playing Ebenezer Scrooge in the White House’s production of A Christmas Carol. You can convince me otherwise."

"He looks like the Mad Scientist who blew up his own lab by accident," chimed in an individual. One wrote, "It happens," attaching a tousled hair image of Trump.

"Jack Nicholson as The Joker (Batman, 1989)," joked one more.

Another person used the moment to take a dig at him for pardoning his son, Hunter Biden, despite promising otherwise.
